The truth was that young Miss Roberts was starting to grow anxious, though she would not admit this to anyone.  She and Seth had been more or less together since the New Year and she was still waiting for the other shoe to drop.  Waiting for him to hop on that boat and take off, or even meet a short haired blond skank and realize that their mutual ( Read more... )

Zack hadn't talked to Summer for a while. Ever since the revelation that she had a boyfriend, it didn't seem right. Hadn't talked to her for a while translated to they didn't have long, private conversations in the other's hut. Things had progressed from Summer being alone on the island to her best friend and her boyfriend turning up.

Keeping himself busy was a talent that Zack shared with Summer. This only gave further excuse not to see the other. They still talked, ate together on occasion in the compound. The days of last summer were gone though and he considered turning around and walking back the way he'd come. Especially given the amount of concentration she was giving to whatever it was she was doing. It looked a lot like meditating.

"That looks like a lot of work," he commented, opting for interruption rather than avoidance.

Summer stretched her arms above her head, looking directly at Zack as she spoke.

"It's about aligning your spirit. If you can get your body to connect spiritually, then it's way powerful." Nevermind that Summer could not align her spirit today. Nope. No need to mention that.

She looked at her friend and wondered what happened. Was Zack another Che, in her life when she was alone then out the door once the going got tough? He didn't betray her like Che, he just, faded away. Was that his fault, or her own?

"You should give it a try."

"Huh? How do you align your spirit?" he asked. He was definitely going to give it a try. How hard could it be? She'd just been sitting there with her legs crossed.

"Well," she grinned, though her voice was quite solemn, "first sit like I'm doing. Back straight. Perfectly straight." She sat up a bit straighter, to prove her point.

Charlie was sort of loathe to disturb Summer; she looked so peaceful, and they weren't in class, but Delilah took the decision out of her hands, trotting over and nosing under Summer's knee as though she was looking for something interesting.

"Oh, Jeez, Summer, I'm sorry. I ain't got no control over her at all."

Summer looked up at Charlie and grinned sheepishly. The truth was she welcomed a distraction. A distraction could be blamed for her wandering mind and the blame would be taken off of her own inadequacies.

"What's better for my spirit than nature. How's it going?" Summer arched her back in a slightly unnatural shape as she spoke.

"That's very sweet of you, to call Delilah nature like that," teased Charlie a little, giving the little pig a nudge with her foot.

"Oh, I'm okay. Wedding plans, y'know? They take up just about every minute."

Summer nodded. She knew the time and energy that went into planning lavish events back home, a wedding was far beyond her grasp.

"Well sit down. Breath out some of that wedding stress." Summer grinned, as she stretched a leg out, startling Delilah in the process.

Secluded or not, Seth was bound to find Summer somewhere. She could have hidden in a rabbit hole and he'd find her down there with Pancakes cradled in her cute little arms. Yoga was supposed to relax body, mind, and spirit, or some nonsense like that, but Seth could tell when Summer was pouting. She had that little bottom lip that gave her away. "Aren't you supposed to start levitating?" he asked, shuffling in front of her to sit with his own legs crossed. This Lotus thing, he'd tried before, failed, and he was failing at it now as well.

Summer's face lit up at the sight of Seth. She wondered, as always, if the boy was aware of his effect on her. Her words though, were full of snark and sarcasm.

"I was levitating, till you interrupted me Cohen."

Seth knew her cute little tricks by then, how her quips toward him really meant that she loved him and thought he was adorable. ...Right? "I don't know how you do this," he groaned, but managed to get one ankle over his opposite thigh. The other just wouldn't bend that way, but he spread his arms out anyway, victorious. "See there?" A half Lotus was good enough.

Summer shook her head, the smile not leaving her face.

"No way Cohen. You've got to try harder." Summer crossed her arms and looked over at him, her current pose much more mockery than actual yoga.
