"Sure, sure," John said, his tone indicating he didnt believe it. He gave the ball an easy toss back to Lee, and walked up to the court. "It's kinda weird seeing someone who isn't Kara playing around here."
Lee was pretty sure that the girl who'd retrieved his ball looked familiar, and for a second, he couldn't quite place it. That was, until he thought back to New Year's Eve and John being threatened by a group of frakking teenagers with brandishing bottles and swords.
"That goal over there," Lee said, catching the ball and gesturing towards the goal to his right. "Guess I missed."
"...I think I would have lied," Arya said, eyeing the distance between the goal he was throwing at and the point the ball had actually landed. "You don't play much, do you?"
"Well, since you asked so nicely." Elle leans down to retrieve the ball, sauntering toward him with arms outstretched. She had only been passing by, but some shows aren't worth passing up, and no matter how bad his aim, the guy's hot. With a smile that's sweet and smug all at once, she stops in front of him. "Here you are."
"It happens." Elle lets her fingers drift over his as she relinquishes her hold on the ball, turning to look back over her shoulder at the goals, the way the court is set up. "What're you playing?" It isn't any game she recognizes, but that doesn't rule out all that many. They aren't - weren't - big on team sports over in the Company.
Stopping the ball with the inside of my foot, I arch a brow at the guy -- familiar in a way that a lot of people around here are to me now, and say with a teasing smirk, "I'm sure that never happens, right?"
I know the game, but not well. I've watched Kara play it, but never asked her to tell me how. And that's how I know the guy, too. I pop the ball up to catch it and then toss it to him. "I know you. You were around when Calliope was born."
Lee was pretty sure he'd seen the other guy around too, though it was hard to know just where he'd seen him before. That was, until he brought up Kara.
"Yeah," He said, catching the ball and turning it over in his hands for a moment, "Lee Adama. I know her from back home."
Rogue stopped the ball with her foot, then leaned down to pick it up, toss it lightly in the air and catch it again. She took in the court with a curious expression, walking to stand at it's edge. It was hot as hell out, and she'd tied her t-shirt off above the navel and rolled the sleeves over the her shoulders which was as close an approximation of adhering to decency as she was willing to go.
It was hot out.
"What's the game?" she asked, sending ball sailing back to Lee with one easy push of her hands. It didn't drop, didn't bounce, and reached its target with a fair amount of force behind it.
"Ah," He said. nodding slowly, one eyebrow quirked, "I should have guessed. So what exactly is 'rudimentary'?"
Not that he doubted Kara's ability to explain it-- he had to admit, she was better at the game than she was-- but Pyramid was really the kind of game it where it was easier to understand if you saw it played.

He gave Lee a friendly grin, tossed the ball from hand to hand, then added, "You really suck."

Though even when he used to play more often back on Caprica, he'd had more than his fair share of bad throws.

"Yeah, well, Starbuck's not the only one who knows how to play."
Though, considering how few Colonials were left on the island these days, there weren't many people around who did know.

"What were you aiming at?" she said, tossing it back to John's ITF buddy.

He's not a bad looking guy, I'd have to be sorta blind not to notice, and I don't even bother trying to hide it when my eyes flicker over him.
"You know, I still don't understand this fuckin' game."

Unless she'd known Helo or knew Kara, that was. But everyone on the island seemed too preoccupied with football anyway.

"I even possess a rudiment'ry understandin' of the rules, thanks to one Kara Starbuck Thrace. Never seen it played, though."
