Carson had been happy when Ronon had shown up on the island again not long ago. Granted, he hadn't expected to find the man looming over a couple of wraith corpses in the snow, but he'd been happy to see him, all the same. While they hadn't known each other terribly well before, he'd always been personable...in his own way. And though Ronon being ( Read more... )

The island being the island, it wasn't necessarily a secret when giant corpses of unknown origins arrived-- even if they were under care of the clinic rather than the lab. Temperance had been keeping an eye out for when the work on these creatures would occur, and so she was ready when Dr. Beckett took them out.

"What are they?" she asked, wasting no time with preamble.

By the time Dr. Brennan had shown up, Carson was already well beyond his first incision and was already well on his way to harvesting the enzyme. It was one of his priorities when it came to studying the body, so it was probably best to get it out of the way early.

"A wraith," Carson said, not looking up, as she'd spoken to him in the middle of an incision, "Creature from the Pegasus Galaxy. Nasty buggers."

"How long do you expect you'll be able to keep the tissue intact?" she asked, moving around to look at the incision. "Even with refrigeration... well, unless you froze it." Though it was not Dr. Beckett that she'd bullied into a secret pregnancy test, she figured she wouldn't be able to hide the bump well enough, and decided to continue as if it weren't an issue.

Besides, he had a specimen.

Carrying a steaming mug of tea, Cecilia's heels clicked upon the floor in a rather loud fashion as she made her way toward the clinic. It was soon getting to be time where she would need to request a leave of absence, for the twins would be here in only a matter of weeks now.

As she had been in the building to acquire a few more baby books, Cecilia saw no harm in stopping by the clinic to speak to Dr Beckett about taking time off. Her belly was quite large by now, looking overly so on account of her tiny frame, and Cecilia's back ached more often than not. With her free hand, she supported the small of her back as she walked.

The bright, amiable smile she wore as she entered the clinic gave way to an expression of utmost shock as she saw what Dr. Beckett was working on.

"What...is that?" she asked, her voice strained.

Truth be told, Carson had been waiting to see when Cecilia might ask for a leave of absence. Sure, clinic duty wasn't terribly stressful work most of the time, be he was sure she'd want to be off of her feet and focused on getting ready for the wee one.

But he certainly hadn't expected her to turn up in the infirmary while he had his hands in the body of a dead wraith.

"A wraith," Carson explained, "Don't worry, he's no threat t'anyone right about now."

Cecilia's delicate brows knitted together as she took in the creature's visage. It was quite...unattractive...and appeared as though it would likely be rather brutish were it currently not in its undead state.

Dr Beckett seemed rather nonplussed about the whole matter; Cecilia thought perhaps he was familiar with them already. That thought was a bit disconcerting; Dr Beckett was from Scotland, which wasn't too much different from England!

"I can see that," she said slowly. Looking to him, she worried her lower lip a moment before asking, "Do you need any help, Doctor?"

"I certainly wouldn't say no t'a bit of help," Carson said, with a friendly smile, "That is, if you're sure you want t'get your hands dirty."

He looked down at his gloves and then held them up so that she could see. "So to speak."

But he wouldn't have been offended in the least if she decided not to. There probably weren't too many people on the island who wouldn't be at least a little freaked out by the sight of a dead wraith on the autopsy table, much less one being dissected.
