If there was one thing Devon knew about a good New Year's Eve party, it was when to keep an eye on the clock and to get everyone's attention. He'd stuck close to Ellie five minutes to, and when the last minute began to tick away and nobody had done anything about it, he decided to take on the mantle.
There would be nothing but the sounds of smooching at midnight, if he could help it. Even the kids who still managed to be awake at this hour needed a hug, at the very least.
"ALRIGHT, PEOPLE!" He hopped up on one of the cleared tables, tie loose and face slightly flushed thanks to a few beers he'd indulged in. It was the end of a year, after all. "We've got twenty seconds! Grab your ladies, grab your gents, grab someone who looks lonely - but only if they want it - and let's ring in an awesome new year!"
The crowd finally caught on at the ten second mark, and Devon gladly jumped back down and headed right for Ellie as the chanting began.
