Cain was beginning to suspect that unless he started poking and prodding at Glitch (with DG's help, they could even use a big stick), there was absolutely not going to be any kind of wedding. Ever. He still didn't enjoy the idea of doing it all himself, but he at least had marched to the Compound to start mapping out just what they had to do ( Read more... )

Glitch was making his daily run to the bookshelf to pick up whatever it decided he wanted today. Stepping through the door to see Cain was a pleasant surprise, but it didn't stop him from grabbing a few books, not even looking at his selections, before grinning at the other man and sitting adjacent to him.

"What are you doing?"

Cain glanced over his shoulder, wandering closer with the paper and pencil and leaned down to press a kiss to Glitch's cheek and sinking down beside him. "You and me need to have a talk, sweetheart," Cain said with a heavy groan as he got comfortable. "I've been talking to Shari and DG, apparently we need to get moving on this wedding planning stuff or else we'll be engaged forever."

"Still don't see why we can't just be married," Glitch muttered. Seemed a lot more efficient. Engaged and then bam, married, no ceremony required. But if Cain wanted a wedding, he'd get a wedding.

He let out a light sigh, bumping his shoulder against Cain's. "What do we need to plan, then? I hear I used to be pretty good at planning things."

Cain stretched out his neck slightly, placing the paper in Glitch's lap and just peering up at him as he got relaxed. "Date, for one. Menu. Invitations, guest list, location, person who's going to marry us, wedding party..." He trailed off, rubbing a palm over his face tiredly. "Reception, dance music, honeymoon location."

There was silence in the rec room. That was weird, weird enough to make Angela poke her head in just to see if her presence couldn't start up some rock ballad. "La Grange" started to play very, very softly as she stepped fully into the room.

Half confused and half amused, Angela gave the man a crooked grin. "Did you scare it into submission?"

Cain just glanced to the side, glad that it wasn't playing any songs about screwing cowboys or having heart. "I was asking for advice. From a jukebox." Then, he'd done weirder being that they'd once taken directions from Tutor in his canine form. "Trying to settle on a date for a big event."

"Ah," she noised in understanding. "No wonder it was quiet. I don't think the jukebox makes those kind of specific decisions."

Still smiling, Angela stepped a little closer. "Can I help?"

Cain just glanced to her, trying to place the help and wonder if it was just this place that motivated everyone to go out of their way to help, to make him want to help. "I'm getting married. Or, rather, we're attempting and it'll never happen unless I plan. I need to pick a date, was figuring on his birthday. Thing is, it's not as if he remembers that."
