he knew Logan could tell that he was anyway, even if he wasn't about to admit it to anyone else. Everything was set up at the stage and he was there doing a quick sound check before anyone else arrived, checking the levels of the microphone and the amps until everything was exactly how he thought he wanted

He'd been enjoying the music lessons, and he'd definitely been enjoying playing with Joe, but it wasn't until the show was over that he realized just how much. Surfing had always been his thing, but it had never felt like an accomplishment. But this? For the first time in ages, Logan felt like he'd actually done something worth bragging about, his spine a little straighter than usual as he wandered through the crowd.
He really need to thank Joe again later.

"Hey," she said quietly, sliding one arm around his waist and turning her head to press a kiss to his shoulder. "How are you doing?" The last thing she needed was for this to have been too much for him after all.

"It was a pretty fucking good concert," he offered up, which he figured was answer enough for her, turning his head to look at her. "I'm glad we showed up."

She cut herself off with that, knowing it probably wouldn't be a good idea to ask if he was fucking okay, if only because she was sure he wasn't, and likely wouldn't be for some time. Instead, she swallowed and took a deep breath before continuing. "Ready to go? I'm fine with heading back, if that's what you want."

Then she'd stayed.
Sure, she knew about Music with Rocks in, but this was... this was different. This was much more raw. It wasn't as easy as rock music was, or as campy as the stuff that loud tended to be when you whittled it down to its lyrics.
So there she was in the intensely streamlining, clinging, devastatingly sophisticated gown the box had coughed up at her that not only made her look like some weird ethereal paleness demon, but made her look about 17 (which wasn't unusual, but a year on the island had tempered some of that inescapable vampiric androgyny into something a bit more fully formed on one side as opposed to the other), enjoying this flagrantly subversive rock music for- oh, who could keep track of the time in front of this ( ... )
