Although Joe didn't appear to be nervous, he knew Logan could tell that he was anyway, even if he wasn't about to admit it to anyone else. Everything was set up at the stage and he was there doing a quick sound check before anyone else arrived, checking the levels of the microphone and the amps until everything was exactly how he thought he wanted ( Read more... )

Quickly, Joe unplugged his guitar from the amp and dropped down off the stage, leaving the instrument resting against him. Although the show had gone well, he was a little twitchy, itching for something that he hadn't had in a long goddamn time and something he knew he really wasn't allowed to have.

He wanted just a line or just a swig of beer or just a fucking puff from a cigarette. Something to let him get his head back on straight.

It was the first show he'd ever played completely sober and that was a weird fucking feeling.

"Probably the only rock star on the island," Joe answered with a snort of laughter, grinning when Logan kissed his cheek. "But you're a close second, man. One and two."

"Yeah, that's me, a rock star," Logan replied dryly, cutting Joe a sideways glance.

Leaning back against the stage he took in the crowd, looking over all the people who'd turned up for the show. It wasn't the sort of crowd Joe would have gotten back home, Logan was sure of that, but it was still a nice turn out. And hell, he knew for a fact that this was just the start. Joe's next show would be ever bigger, even better.

"Hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere," Joe answered with a shrug, still grinning easily, feeling pretty damn good about the whole thing. It was impossible for him to feel shitty tonight.

"Yeah, I know man, I'm just saying... I'm not like you. I could never do this stuff all the time. I can't deal with people the way you do. ...I won't lie though, it felt really good being up there with you," Logan admitted. "I still feel kind of buzzed, and I only played two songs."

"Fucking adrenaline rush," Joe agreed, grinning. "Almost as good as actually getting really, really stoned." Maybe it was even better. Maybe he'd realize that one day, but right now he just felt like the whole night would've been the slightest bit easier with just a line of coke. He didn't say that, though, because it didn't matter.

"Feels good, man," Logan said, laughing as he unbuttoned the cuffs of his shirt. "Sorta feels like I could do anything right now, you know?"

"Yeah, that's it right there," Joe agreed, nodding. "That's how you describe it. It's like nothing in this fucking world could stop you now."

"You must feel amazing then," Logan laughed. "I mean, I only played two songs, you played a whole set. You must feel like... a god or something."

Joe laughed at that, but he wondered if that wasn't far off. He'd never really been able to describe the feeling that went along with being on stage. "I dunno what the fuck to call it," he admitted. "It's always been fucking crazy, though."

"So, when's the next show then?" he asked, grinning brightly again. "Soon, right? Maybe you could do a Christmas show. Or, I dunno, maybe something for..."

He nearly suggested Halloween, but, well, he doubted that was something either of them would want to celebrate.

"Some Christmas carols maybe?" Joe asked with a laugh, figuring Logan was going to say something about Halloween, but he figured it didn't matter. It was just another day. It had been a shitty day, but he wasn't gonna let it ruin this night for either of them.

"Yeah, carols," Logan grinned. "You could dress up like Santa," he suggested with a snort.

"That sounds a little too fucked up for my tastes," Joe answered, laughing harder. "Dale might give me shit for traumatizing the little kids on the island."

"I still think it would be awesome," Logan grinned, slipping his hands into his pockets. "Besides, a little childhood trauma is good for you."

"Yeah? The 'hey, kids, come see what Santa's got for you' kind?" Joe asked, grinning. "I dunno, man, I think that's kinda pushing it."
