Sara hadn’t had nearly as much free time recently, with schoolwork keeping her busy. While Eddie's interest in seashells was not entirely non-existent, it was definitely Emmy who spotted Sara holding up a shell in the sunlight and went dashing off towards her across the sand. Either she was going to make it unscathed or she was going to go tumbling down into the sand halfway there. Either way, there was no reason for Eddie to go running after her, not while she was still within sight.

"Pretty!" said Emmy, with all due appreciation.

'Would you like to hold it?' Sara asked, crouching down in the sand to offer the shell to the little girl with a warm smile. She had always been very fond of young children - and for a moment worried that she might be alone, until she glanced up and saw a man who she assumed had to be her father. She gave him a smile, too, before talking to the little girl again. 'My name's Sara,' she told her. 'What's yours?'

"Emmy Ires," said Emmy, almost getting it right. She reached out for the shell and poked at the pointy parts with a single finger before wrapping her hand around it. "Isser more?"

'That's a pretty name,' Sara said. 'And I have some more in my pocket.' She pulled them out, holding them out for Emmy to look at. She only had a few - she'd only chosen the prettiest ones, and all of them different kinds. 'But none the same as that one. Which is your favourite?'
