She was exploring again, and this time she had found her mark. It had taken awhile, mostly because she kept getting distracted whenever she went to explore the Compound to find the caves. There really was so very much to find. But those adventures aside, she had finally found them ( Read more... )

For the past few days, Betty had been looking for another place to sleep besides the Crash Room. It felt like forever since she holed up in there, and she was really wanting to get her own, at least slightly more private, space. Ultimately, she had decided to scope some places in the Compound out before she even talked to Bruce. If he wanted to stay with her, that is. She certainly wouldn't mind his company.

And so, walking through level two, she found the entrance into the caves. They were not well lit, nor did they look very comfortable, but they weren't uninviting either. The last memory Betty had of a cave was a pleasant one, and the atmosphere made it all rush back in vivid detail. Offhandedly, she wondered if this cavern would fit a Hulk-sized Bruce better than the last, or if he'd manage to hit his head again. Distracted, she wandered the path, her eyes on the ceiling. At least, they were until she ran into something -- or someone -- that wasn't rock.

"Ah, s'cuse me!"

To be fair, Aeris hadn't been paying attention, either, so she should have expected running into someone eventually. It was better than running into a monster or a wall, after all.

"Oh, I'm sorry!"

"No, it's my fault," Betty laughed, brushing her hands against her sides, and looking herself and the other girl over to make sure there was no harm done.

"I was the one looking at the ceiling, after all."

She laughed, then. "Oh, but it's so dark in here, I'm not sure that would have mattered even if we were both paying attention!"

She smiled, glancing around the area briefly. "Do you live here, or are you exploring, too?"

"You aren't armed well enough to just be wandering around out here," Yuffie said, her arms crossed over her chest. "Didn't you know there's a murderer? Do you think I really wanna drag your pretty corpse back to the SOLDIER boys?"

She let out a frustrated huff.

"Geez, Aeris."

She turned around in surprise, at Yuffie's sudden appearance. It wasn't out of the ordinary for Yuffie, but she was getting a bit out of practice with it on the island.

"A murderer?" She hadn't heard any thing at all about a murderer around that she could recall. Still, it wouldn't be the most dangerous thing she'd come across. "Well...I haven't found a staff yet!"

"Well, technically, I think there's lots of people here who've done awful things," Yuffie clarified, "but we're supposed to give them a blank slate. Anyway, didn't you hear there was a body found?"

She wondered if trapping her friends under a giant cage counted as an awful thing.

"Nope! I didn't hear anything." She smiled, and lifted a shoulder in a shrug. "But I think I've already ran into my share of murderers for my lifetime! I can't spend my entire life hiding away waiting for the dangers to go away."
