The life of any human has much to do with patterns and repetition. In some respects, being an angel is no different. Even so I found life on my second island to be somewhat less stimulating than I might have hoped for. In all fairness, of course, my basis for comparison was my somewhat brief and luxurious respite in the body of Theo Mandros while ( Read more... )

Neville wasn't heading for the church on purpose, not exactly, but as his mind wandered so did his feet and soon enough he found himself heading up into the hills. Apparently his subconscious had a mind of its own.

And it was a fact that Neville did have a lot on his mind lately. He'd been through a lot, both before arriving on the island and since coming here, and sometimes he didn't know quite what to make of it all.

"I'm sorry anyone else ever had to deal with him, after what he put us through back home," said Neville. "I... I don't need to see his grave after all. They say that sort of thing gives you closure, but it doesn't, not really, does it."

"I don't know," said Neville, swallowing back something that might've been despair or possibly anger. "I don't know if there's anything that can make it better. You just have to keep going, I guess."

"Yes, I imagine there is no easy solution," I murmured, trying to think of something honest and potentially comforting. There was no sense in lying to him.

"Perhaps you must content yourself in knowing you did all that you could do when he was here and if he does return, you'll simply have to do the same thing. You're only really responsible for your own actions in the end, Neville."
