It wasn't like Sam exactly planned this.

Sure, it was nice enough and even though it was a little late in the afternoon and last-minute, he'd just wound up wandering the Island after his conversation with Veronica and mentioning that maybe it'd be sort of nice if people he knew would grab a drink at the Hub. Not really for any specific reason, just that it'd be nice to be around people during a time of truth.

And you know, he was twenty-five years old now. He'd been twenty-five for a whole day now and he still wasn't really used to it. He'd put off all celebrations, but he really wanted the notion of the ritualistic celebration that people had. And it was an excuse to drink a couple beers and hang out with his closest friends, maybe even have a laugh or two before he started focusing on Dean's predicament.

It was...it was a good thing, Sam was pretty sure. He thought the plan to have a bit of a party at the Hub was a good idea. He'd wound up there after doing a circle of the Island, telling people that they could bring whoever they wanted and 'tell your friends' were the words of the day, accompanied by an earnest smile.

He set himself up with a beer near the counter and tried to ignore the fact that when he'd turned up, he'd been twenty-two. He felt seriously old if he thought about that, and not only that, but he felt like he was never going to escape the whole Island deal.

[It's gathering at the Hub, it's Sam's birthday, and oh yeah, it's truth plot. Open invite.]
