The day started off normal enough. I sort of had a routine by now. It started with breakfast. Mostly I just found a corner where there weren't many people and ate as quickly as possible. I would next stop by the Rec Room. I had finally gotten up the nerve, or maybe the boredom had finally become too much, and pulled a book off of the shelf. I was relieved when it turned out to be some short stories by Edgar Allan Poe. Not exactly what I would have picked, but considering its reputation I had a feeling I was getting off pretty easy.
About two or three times a week I would head out into the water. I was getting pretty good actually, and going out a little further each time. I wasn't ready to actually surf yet I didn't think, but at least I could feel a little more secure about it when I was ready to try. And I was going to take Neil's advice and check out the school. I really had no idea what they were going to offer, but the more I thought about it the more it felt like a good fit somehow. Today, however, was not one of the days where I went into the water. I paused for a moment just sort of watching the waves when something caught my eye, mainly because it was a deep red against the greyish-brown of a rock. I figured someone must have left it, and so I went over to see if I could figure out who it might belong to. Of course the moment I actually saw what it was I knew that it was meant for me. Not mine, I couldn't exactly think of it that way...just meant for me to find. Somehow that made it a little easier. It looked the same, no patches or warn spots. Even the color was still bright like it had never been washed.
It took me a moment to actually react. I stood there and finally sighed and said, "Fuck." I wasn't sure how loud it was, and I really didn't care. There were times when I was glad that I had met Eric, that word was exactly explained how I felt right then.
(OOC: So yeah Brian has found his item. The
devil costume he was wearing on Halloween of 1983 when he encountered Coach again. He still doesn't remember exactly what happened. ST/LT tags welcome as long as I can keep it up!)
