It'd been near seven months'r so since the last time Mal'd had folk who'd been in the black gather 'round Serenity t' meet one 'nother, so he reckoned 'twas high time for 'nother. Plenty o' folks has dis'ppeared from the island n' e'en more had come in their place.

With a purposeful stride, he went t' the bulletin board n' tacked up his notice: ( Read more... )

River didn't particularly want to look at the bulletin board very often, but she felt like she ought to. She wanted to be prepared, just in case another notice of people looking for her and Simon showed up. It was an easy thing to do today, when she found Mal there already.

"Ni hao," she said, offering him a small, tense smile that turned into a real one once she had examined the board and found nothing alarming.

Lookin' down at River, Mal nodded once, takin' note o' the way she didn't 'xactly smile straight-'ways. "Ni hao," he said all cautious-like, takin' in e'erythin' 'bout her -- body language, posture, the whole lot.

His eyes flickered t' the bulletin board, 'memberin' the last time they'd stood t'gether in front o' it.

"Ain't anythin' on here t' be frettin' o'er."

"Nope. Not a thing." Now that River knew there wasn't anything to worry about on the bulletin board (for today), she was much more relaxed. "Not unless your space travelers' party gets too rowdy," she teased. "You know how folks can get, once we get to talking about the black and what we miss and what we don't."

River was very fond of these meetings, when new people showed up to be met and to admire Serenity. She hoped, this time, that no one from their part of the 'verse showed up (meaning the Alliance or any of their bounty hunters), but she figured that was something better dealt with when and if it actually happened.

"Haven't e'er had one that got too rowdy," Mal said all thoughtful-like. He rubbed at his chin some, considerin'. "Though I figure there's a first time for e'erythin'." If'n anyone would dare t' get out o' sorts, 'tween him n' River they ought t' have thin's covered...though it didn't escape him that havin' Jayne 'round 'gain would make thin's a whole hell o' a lot easier if'n somethin' like that'd come up.

Ford was a bit disgusted frankly. Was everyone expected to belong to a certain ship? What of the free-spirits in the universe? The hitchers, the adventurers, the convicts, and the tourists? He still filled out the form anyway, but was certain to make his views known.

Name: Ford Prefect
Name of Vessel: What makes you think I've got one?
Location of Vessel: Once again, is having one compulsory?
Your rank profession: Roving Researcher
Your skills: Hitching, drinking, writing, Brocknian Utra-Cricket, languages, care and keeping of Earthmen
Any other pertinent information: I'm a hitcher, not an actual spacer, ok? Show some respect for the galaxy's other professions and put some if anys in the form.

Jo didn't quite understand everything on the notice, except there were other space travellers, and she was keen to meet them. So she filled in the form.

Name: Jo Grant
Name of Vessel: TARDIS
Location of Vessel: Don't know
Your rank: Assistant
Your skills: Making the tea, filing, karate, flying a helicopter, escaping
Any other pertinent information: I've travelled on other spaceships that weren't the TARDIS too

Garak saw the notice of a space traveler's meeting with some amusement. He certainly was a space traveler and it would be a very good idea to go to this meeting to learn about other space travelers, but the idea of putting one's name, rank, vessel, location and skills on a sheet that was accessible to everyone was utterly laughable. He very carefully began adding his information to the list. Federation Standard was not, after all, his first language (or even his second), and the letters occasionally looked a little like Cardassian, but they were legible.

Name: Garak
Name of Vessel: none currently, formerly the ICS Mekor
Location of Vessel: Somewhere in the shipyards of Amleth Prime
Your rank: Gul (retired)
Your skills: astrogation/helm
Any other pertinent information: None

When he was done, he smiled slightly. The only true statement on that paper was his name, and even that was only partially true.

Given Martha's campaign to get off the island, she decided that attending this meeting might be valuable, if only for the sake of general information. Why so much information was needed simply to show up, she didn't know; if the bloody ship was so precious, have the meeting somewhere else.

Sighing, she located a pencil and added her information, tongue planted firmly in cheek.

Name: Martha Jones
Name of Vessel: TARDIS
Location of Vessel: On the island... and not.
Your rank: N/A
Your skills: Saving the world
