It probably wasn't the best idea in the world, but Cain couldn't leave well-enough alone. He'd started tinkering with the TDESPHTL mainly out of curiosity and some driving desire to see the thing taken apart to its lowest possible place. The thing had tortured him long enough both back in the O.Z. and now here, and it was just sitting there.

It was just sitting there.

He could have asked Glitch how to dismantle it, but chances were the man might not even understand depending on the hour of the day. Sure, he invented the thing, but that'd been a whole hemisphere ago. One that was in a tower far, far away.

So he was letting it run, just enough so that he could pry around with one of the three-dimensional projectors, twisting it around and the images flickered in and out of focus. They changed in size. Even the sound flickered in and out and he winced painfully every time he heard his own shouts of pain and Adora's cries. Eventually, he managed to get the sound off, but right over his shoulder was that gods-damned projection of Zero, as if standing right behind Cain with Adora's ribbon on his hands while the Longcoats held Jeb down.

Never, not ever would Cain want to stop destroying the thing, but he had no idea how to do it permanently, without the thing washing back up on shore. So that was why he sat in the rec room trying to dismantle it piece by piece and getting nothing more than the same loop over and over again, just in different sounds, colors, and sizes.

[The image looks, basically, like Zero (a CKR) is standing above Cain's shoulder]
