John moved his head into the room to see what all the fuss was about.
"Everything alright, boy?" John's voice was curious and had someone not known him, they may even described it as concerned. After a moment John stepped out into the hallway.
"Does everything look alright," Draco hissed, and though he didn't say it, he was certain the 'you great dunderheaded buffoon' was clearly implied.
Carefully, as to not startle the beast, Draco shuffled back across the floor, daring to move only a few inches before he froze. He and Nagini had never been the best of friends.
Surprised by the very short and honest outburst, Booth raised his eyebrows to the boy.
"Evidently, not. You should watch your mouth though, boy. You don't always know who you may be talking to." Booth nodded to the rather blonde boy with a forceful grin. "Especially if you're cowering in fear of a snake." Booth smiled like a true antagonist.
Nagini was a rather large, venomous serpent, controlled by the most fearsome wizard of their time, it wasn't as though he were cowering in front of a six inch garden snake. Amidst all of his trembling, he managed to give the man an unamused look, hardly noticing the cold smile at all. He had more important things on his mind.
"At the moment, I'd say Nagini here poses the most immediate threat."
Trance wasn't sure what the large object in front of her was. It was rectangular-shaped, large enough for a person to fit in, and nothing like anything she'd seen on the Andromeda. She didn't have long to puzzle it out, though, because she heard the scream. A scream from a voice she felt she ought to know.
"See for yourself," he said, eyes wide as he pointed down at the beast coiling around his feet. His voice was rather embarrassingly shrill but he hardly noticed.
Nagini lifted her diamond-shaped head, tongue flickering as she looked up at the violet newcomer, clearly unimpressed. In the few moments that she was thankfully distracted, Draco took a slow, careful step back, the cabinet door swinging gently when his hand slipped free from it.
"A serpent," he answered with rather obvious distaste. He liked snakes, but certainly not this particular one. "Her name is Nagini and she's been in the care of Professor Snape, though I haven't seen him in weeks." He could only guess what that might mean.
Bart had been trying to get to the laundry room, a wicker basket of clothes under one arm. However, the guy about his age, give or take, and the giant cabinet were blocking the way.
"Looks pretty sturdy from here," Bart said, evenly. "Might make a halfway decent armoire."
"Oh, of course. Just what I was looking for," Draco mutter, watching the snake warily and slowly backing away from her, hoping unabashedly that the other man might just be enough of a distraction for the beast.
"Really? Oh dear, I hadn't noticed," he said, just as dryly as before. He looked up and arched a brow, but by this time, he wasn't quite surprised to hear a language completely unlike his own... Which, of course, didn't mean he was pleased with the idea.
Fred heard the scream from the next room and banged out into the hallway in a panic. Then he saw who was doing the screaming and rolled his eyes with a snort. "Oh, it's you," he said witheringly, and was about to turn back into the room he'd needlessly ejected himself from, when he saw the snake in a cool coil near Malfoy's feet, staring him down. "Might want to do something about that-- I hear those things're poisonous," he said frostily-- but he didn't go back in. If the thing was going to eat the little twit, Fred wanted to be around to see it.
"Oh, honestly," Draco huffed, mouth twisting into a smirk when Nagini's head swung around to face the newcomer, "Ah, it looks as though you're more her taste."
"Doubtful," Fred said, though he did stop looking at Malfoy entirely in order to keep both eyes on the snake. He hoped desperately that it wouldn't come near him, because then he'd be forced to do a very un-Gryffindor (not to mention humiliating) thing and run away. "What's all this, then?" he added, having recognized the Vanishing Cabinet at once. "The quicker you get in, the quicker I'm done with you."
"Trust me, she has a taste for filthy Muggle-lovers like you. She's been well trained" he sneers, wondering if the bumbling lout has any idea just whom this particular snake belongs to.
