Karen hadn't found anyone named Brodie or Nick yet, and she was beginning to think that Karen (the other Karen, that is) had made them up to make it seem like all the guys she knew weren't gay. Being a matchmaker was hard, especially with imaginary straight people.
That wasn't to say that she had given up, though. No, she still thought Karen was badly in need of a boyfriend, if only so she could take a break from playing the video games for a while. Boys were supposed to do that. And who knew? Maybe they'd have babies and Karen could be godmother! That would be awesome.
But right now, she was taking a break from the Matchmaking Hunt to visit the rec room with a slice of cake that she'd liberated from the kitchen. It probably wasn't fat free - it didn't even have one of those nutritional values stickers on it - but Karen felt like something sweet.
She'd only just sat down to eat the cake when the jukebox whirred to life.
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun
"Oh my god!" Karen shrieked, leaping to her feet, cake abandoned. She couldn't believe she'd forgotten! It was Christmas soon, which meant it was time for the Winter Talent Show! Or...it would have been, had she been at home with Cady, Gretchen and Regina. But they didn't do the Jingle Bell Rock any more, did they?
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air.
Karen glanced around surreptitiously. There was no one around. She could still do the routine, right? She didn't need Cady, Gretchen and Regina. Not really.
So, grinning, she took up position and began to
dance, singing along as she went.
What a bright time, it's the right time
To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go gliding in a one-horse sleigh...
