Leo wouldn't say he was brooding. Mostly because he wasn't really in a bad mood. Just a mood in general.

He'd been on the Island long enough now to not be horribly surprised by the things that happened there, but it still wasn't normal. Whatever that meant. It unnerved him a little; especially when he started to feel comfortable. He didn't ( Read more... )

Alex was just passing through. He had no real purpose in mind, he wasn't eeven planning on saying anything to the musician. Until a part of the song struck him. His mother had played piano, and taught him as well, and he could hear her playing that piece in the back of his mind. He stood back and waited until he thought it was over before applauding.

"Bravo! Klasse!"

Leo jumped, his fingers jolting off the keys in surprise. He knew full well that anyone could have found him here, playing in the middle of the day. But he'd been so involved in the music that he'd forgotten where he was.

He turned his head, looking at his visitor over his shoulder. He took a breath, trying to relax, and smiled softly. Something about this man put him instantly at ease.

"Danke," he said sincerely.

Alex beamed. He'd finally found the missing German and was going to waste no time getting friendly with him. "You speak German! You must be Leo, right? I'm Alex. Tobi might have mentioned me or something, I see him everywhere for some reason. Kind of odd. But he's a nice kid." Never mind that Leo didn't look any older. "Where are you from?"

Leo couldn't help grinning back. Tobi had mentioned Alex - and no, Leo hadn't been a little jealous - and Leo wasn't quite sure how he'd managed to not run into Alex himself yet. It was so nice to hear German from someone besides Tobi, and he smiled widely for a moment before he realized that Alex had asked him a question.

"Yes! I am Leo. And I have heard of you from Tobi. It's good to be finally meeting you." He pauses a moment, turning around to face Alex more fully. "I'm from Berlin. What part of Germany do you come from?"

It feels almost like intruding when Jason makes his way into the rec room for a quick stop at the bookcase. His own life had been spent in hiding, his career never meant to be shown to the light of day, and he can't imagine doing something as simple as playing piano where anyone and everyone can hear.

He's aware that his own experiences and feelings are not exactly the same as anyone else's might be, so he pulls out of his hesitation and makes his way across the room, stopping at the bookcase.

Leo can sense a presence in the room and it straightens his back a little in awareness. He doesn't stop playing, but he begins to watch out of the corners of his eyes, so he's not surprised by someone walking by.

And then Leo sees him, crossing the room to approach the bookshelf. He allows himself to turn his head, the notes losing a bit of their weight as his interest shifts slightly to the other man.

Jason smiles apologetically when he can tell he's been made out, and he gives the kid a small wave. "Sorry, didn't mean to bother you," he says, nodding at the piano, "you're good."

Leo smiles back, cheeks coloring with a slight blush at the compliment. He turns a bit, removing his fingers from the keyboard. "Danke. Thank you."

Tobi didn't spend much of his time during the day with Leo, the two of them often going their separate ways for reasons Tobi couldn't quite explain. Maybe because things were always just a little awkward during the day; night made things somehow easier to face.

But, when he walked into the room and saw Leo at the piano, he couldn't bring himself to turn and walk away. He watched for a long moment and then slowly walked over, finally, sitting on the bench near, but not quite touching Leo, watching as Leo's hands flew over the keys.

They'd been spending so much time together lately that Tobi's sudden appearance didn't really startle Leo very much. His fingers faltered on the keys for a moment, but then he got it back, continuing with the song, glancing a little to his right to see if Tobi seemed to be enjoying the music or not.

A smile twitched at the corner of Tobi's mouth when he noticed a couple different notes in the song that he didn't think should be there.

"You're good," he said quietly after a moment, nodding down at the keys.

Leo fumbled again with Tobi's compliment, a blush climbing up the sides of his neck. He hurries the end of the song a little, finishing with a bit more flourish than was called for. He took his hands away from the keyboard, turning to smile softly at Tobi.

"Thank you."
