It had been a few day since it happened.
Pearl wasn't sure what to do anymore. She was scared to leave her room, and it didn't help she was all alone now. She tried her best to stay strong, just like Mystic Maya would do, but it was so hard when things had gotten so scary.
It took a lot of courage, but she left her room longer than she usually did, deciding she could take sitting in the rec room a little while. She found a book on the bookshelf she was interested in reading - something about a strange, tall school. She took it to the couch and climbed up onto it, taking up as little as possible as she curled up with the book on her lap. It'd keep her busy, at least.
"Mrs. Gorf had a long tongue and pointed ears," she read softly to herself. "She was the meanest teacher in Wayside School. She taught class on the thur-thur-tee-"
She frowned, staring down at the word she was caught on, trying to sound it out in her mind. She never was very good at reading.
[OOC: She's reading Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar.]
