When Callahan's nightmares had started seeping into the daylight, he'd thought that he was just getting senile. But this morning when he stepped out of the church, he knew that what might once have been a nightmare was now very, very real.
The vampires were no longer darting in and out of his periphery but rather right there, a good half dozen

This, the swarm of, it looks like, vampires crowding the church looks like it might be a god deal of fun.
But what to start with? I pull my shotgun from my back, pump it across my arm, and blow one of the creatures heads off as I bring the bike in a roaring curve around them. It collapses into soot. Very nice effects. I dispatch another in the same way and a third as I drive through them until I bring the bike up in a sharp skidding halt, around so the back wheel is against the church and I'm facing the gathering of undead.
"Good afternoon, Father."

He turned gratefully towards the woman. "Very well done. Have you seen more of them?"

I'm not what you'd call slight, but I can move it when I gotta move it, and as two of the nasties turns into five, I think it's reached the "gotta" stage of things. I start runnin', wishin' like hell I still had my bike, not even knowing where I'm running to, only that it's away from them. I don't mind admitting I'm pretty freaked, but not freaked enough yet to start wavin' my arms and yelling for help ( ... )

"Eli! Into the church! As fast as you can!" He offered up a prayer that none of the vampires managed to grab the young man before he could make it.
He set about trying to distract the ones already there. A fistful of holy water went into the face of one, and a round of shots from his gun into the head of another.

One of the other vamps grabs my arm and growls at me, and I do the only thing I can think of; I punch him in the teeth. Maybe it's my fist and maybe it's surprise, but he's startled for long enough for me to rip my arm free and lunge the last few yards into the church. "Holy shit," I gasp, tryin' to catch my breath, then cross myself with a sorta guilty grin as Pere Callahan looks me over. "Sorry."

He looked out the door at the vampires still lingering outside, hissing and glaring at them. "I have lots of bullets left!" he warned them, and then turned back to Eli.
"Are you hurt?" he asked. "Did it bite you?"

Oh look. More vampires. That would work.
He hurtled out of the jungle, stake in hand, and snarled as he attacked a group of the vampires that were hanging back away from the holy objects brandished by the priest. He let the demon take over and do what it did best, reigning it in enough that he wouldn't attack the ones defending the church. He just hoped he could keep it in check...

"Be careful!" he warned the young man, but then saw that he had a stake as well.
... and were those fangs?
Completely confused, Callahan backed up into the doorway of the church so that he could get a better look without worrying about being attacked.

Xander shook his head and squashed that thought before it had full formed. He may be letting the demon out to fight but there was going to be no attacking people. He'd rather starve.
"I'm on your side." He growled, before he attacked another bunch of vampires. He noticed they were becoming harder to kill and his demon relished the challenge. Xander was relieved. If it was concentrated on something it was easier to deal with.

"I don't know if I have enough holy water, Father. Can you help?" It was a large bowl from the kitchen. She would hopefully return it safely.

He ushered the young woman into the church and nodded. "Yes, of course." He dipped his fingers into the water and crossed it, murmuring under his breath. Then he nodded to a few empty bottles next to the jugs by the door. "Those might help."

"How did they get here? They are supposed to go back to being human."

He sighed and added, "And I've no idea. But from what I've heard they aren't the only evil creatures to have turned up on the island today."

The church.
"I don't suppose you would bless some water!" he asked tensely as he hurried, stake tightly in hand. It was rather just like being home again.

He ushered the young man into the church and nodded. "Yes, of course." He took the water, blessed it, murmuring under his breath, then handed it back. He nodded to the jugs of water on the floor. "And there's more if you need it."
He looked out the front door. "Do you know how many are left? I've killed... four, maybe five, and seen nearly that many get away."
