Jack hadn't had their gifts ready when he attended the wedding, so when he was sure they'd be back, he took three packages to Padme and Jay. The third was something for Sola, of course

He hadn't realized how much he needed to hold on to someone, anyone, but especially Ace. For once he didn't take into account how strong he was or how much smaller she was. He just held on as hard as he could.
Coffee sounded like an excellent idea. After seeing about Guy, Lisa felt like she needed a jolt of..something. Too many strange things were happening around here lately, but for some reason she was immune. That was all right.
"Jack?" She wasn't surprised to see him, just at his expression. Her own cup of coffee forgotten, she stopped a few steps inside the kitchen.
Lisa didn't even bother drawing up a playful comment or some way to cheer him up. Closing the distance betweeen them, she lifted her eyes to his and wrapped her arms around him. Her head pressed against his shoulder and she held on.
He had 'called in' sick for his clinic shift, which basically amounted to him tacking a note that he needed a personal day or two to deal with some issues. And then he'd grabbed a couple bottles and started drinking. He'd lost Jay once before and he did this and now he was doing it this way.
He stumbled slightly into the kitchen, managing a straight line and a terse, not at all pleasant smile at Jack. "You look like the bee's...fuck," he exhaled. "The bee's something painful."
Ianto, conversely, had been having a mostly good day. That didn't stop him from picking up on Jack's obvious distress as he stepped into the kitchen. Well, obvious to Ianto at least.
"Coffee any good?" he asked mildly as he walked closer, giving Jack time to react, to hide, to cover up his emotions if he wanted.
That answer, perhaps surprisingly, told Ianto a lot.
No quip, no joke, something serious had happened. No attempt to even pretend to be alright, something very serious and probably irreversible had happened. Still, Jack wasn't high or drunk, which meant it probably didn't have anything to do with House or the Doctor or anyone on the island.
Ianto had only run into that copy of Sarah Jane a few days prior. Maybe Jack had just seen her. "Someone's gone," he said cautiously, half a question, though he was fairly certain he was right.
Han had discovered it early this morning as well when he'd gone to see Padme upon her return. Since then he'd been wandering the island aimlessly, even missing his usually shaggy shadow. Chewbacca knew his human had wanted to be alone and so had made himself scarce

Jack stared into his coffee, sure he could see the reflction of his memories. The little girl whohad stolen his heart. The mother who he respected so much.
Reflections. The reflection of innocence stolen from her brother and a certain princess, both forced to be older then their years due to constant war. He'd wanted so badly to let her grow up in a world free from all that. He owed it to Luke...and he'd wanted to more then he expected.
The water hung loosely in fingers where he leaned on the counter, lost in thought.

"Jack?" Her voice was quieter, her brows knitting. "What is it?"

"I- I'm sorry-" She reached for his hand, and thought better of it, putting down her cup so that she could hug him.

His throat was too tight to drink it, though.
