Do you call them Doctors Chase or Doctors Doctor?

Aug 30, 2007 17:45

There was a hastily written note tacked to the bulletin board in rounded letters:

Congratulations to Dr. Rob Chase and The Doctor!Because they were great prats and didn't invite anyone to their wedding, there will be a wedding party for them this evening, the 30th of August at The Hub. Friends and acquaintances invited. Presents welcomed, but not ( Read more... )

Remus had read the announcement on the bulletin board with interest. He was acquainted with Dr Chase, of course, and naturally he knew the Doctor, as he taught what was arguably the most popular course at the Island School. And so, seeing the opportunity to wish the two men well, he was quite happy to attend the gathering.

The clothes box had been partially accomodating - it had provided him with a dress shirt and slacks; however, the shirt was a rather unfortunate shade of...well, he supposed lavender was an accurate description. It looked like something he might have worn in the 80's whilst attempting to pass himself off as a Muggle. At least the slacks were a sensible black, and he wore the shirt anyhow, arriving at the Hub with a pleasant smile and a generous quantity of mango muffins Bill had sent along with him for the celebration.

"Oh my," said Tonks upon meeting her husband at the party, "that color did look a sight better in my hair than it does on that shirt."

She for one was wearing a pink sun dress, that probably ended up shorter in the front than it should have been since it wasn't particularly a maternity design, and neon green flip-flops.

"I've not met the Doctor," she added. "Is he a nice bloke?" She was quite fond of Dr. Chase, after all.

"He's all right," someone said from behind her. "A bit of a ponce, slightly full of himself. But all right, regardless."

Tonks turned, looking startled, and then laughed, at least recognizing the man. "My apologies," she said cheerfully, "but I suppose it's nice to get the answer first hand. Lovely to meet you."

Mal weren't one for parties n' such, but seein' as how the doc had gone n' got himself hitched, he figured he could leave Serenity for 'n hour 'r two n' go give his congratulations.

By the time Mal found his way t' the gorram Hub (he'd had t' ask directions from two folk 'cause he weren't too keen on bein' up near the compound n' thus didn't know where much o' anythin' was up in 'em parts), it was packed right-tight. Looked like he weren't ne'er goin' t' find Chase t' say his part.

Now, that...that definitely was a foreign sight. He never thought he'd find Mal at a party like this and when he did. "I must be drunk," Chase announced, wandering over to Mal's side. "See, because I'm seeing Captain Reynolds. At a party. With loads of people and away from the ship."

Seein' the doc, Mal's face broke out int' a broad grin. Clappin' him on the shoulder, Mal 'nnounced, "'Y must be good n' drunk then, Doc. I ain't been one for shindigs since I had t' be fightin' for Inara's honor n' got myself stuck. I surely ain't here."

Well, he definitely was drunk, so there was that. "Well, this one's special," Chase said decisively. "Because I made sure there was a shitload of alcohol," he joked, smirking away.

The Doctor was rubbish at weddings, and it had been good on him that he hadn't actually buggered up the ceremony but good. Still, he did love a party, and he was intending not to bugger up the party. And to make sure his dear husband didn't either.

Besides, there was booze and karaoke, what could go wrong?

He decided not to answer that rhetorical question.

Well wishes and assault welcome! ST for now.

Jane approached with cake in hand, giving the Doctor quite a pointed look. "Hello," she greeted, very simply, holding the baked good above her very much rounded stomach.

"Jane!" the Doctor said, and kissed her gently on both cheeks, careful not to smush either belly or cake. "Hullo, dear Jane."

"Papa," Jane spoke, her voice quite innocent and girlish. "Have you become married without telling me?"

Alcuin had been as surprised about the announcement as everyone else, though certainly saw the cause for celebration, and with Giacomo's blessing, brought a gift with him as well.

He did not, however, particularly understand the point of two men getting married. Whereas bisexuality was the norm among D'Angelines, there were certainly no same sex marriages. Marriage was to legitimate a family, through blood ties and children. If you love a man, love him. Beyond that...? Still, he was beginning to realize that people here saw things differently... as was true about many things.

Chase had been a bit surprised to see people he hadn't seen in ages, but he couldn't help feeling pleased, even if he'd noticed a lot of people who were friends not turning up. But then, last minute celebration, so what could you expect?

He'd asked for it. "Alcuin," Chase greeted, the name slurring only a tiny bit. "Hi."

"Congratulations, Dr. Chase," Alcuin said pleasantly, patting his shoulder firmly. "I must say, I'm a bit surprised. I assume it was a quiet affair?"

Chase gave a laugh at that, running his hand through his hair slowly, surely. "Me, the Doctor, a man of God and his dog," Chase agreed with a rueful (yet pleased) smile.

Bee saw the note on the bulletin board, and, recognizing the name of the guy she'd met when she first showed up - Dr. Rob Chase - she decided to go, mostly to congratulate him, but also because she was never one to shy away from a good party.

She pulled her hair up and back into a tight bun, but other than that, didn't fuss with her appearance, and made her way down to the Hub.

Chase recognized her, but in the tipsy haze, it took a moment to place her, but it wasn't hard. "Bridget...right?" he said, extending a hand to her. "Have you come all this way to dance with me? I know it, right," he said, grinning away. Between the alcohol and the good mood, he was definitely in a charming place that evening.

"You remembered!" She was pleased, and couldn't help but smile when he reached out his hand, and so she took it. "How did you know?"

He grinned, leading her backwards, almost tripping over his own feet. "Well, I'm assuming everyone's here tonight to wish me a happy wedding and be completely charmed by my cuteness." He nodded. "True story. You ever hear about Great White Sharks?"
