Some benches had been set up near the great white tree for the assembled friends and ( Read more... )

The reception was well underway before Jon found a moment to sit down. It felt as though he'd been standing for days, and his feet were protesting. The suit he wore was the most formal thing he'd worn since his arrival here, and he rather wished he could rid himself of the tie-- but all the same, he was enjoying himself very much, as he supposed one was meant to do at one's wedding, and he took a sip of wine and surveyed the assembled guests with a prideful smile.

"The rumors people start," Jon laughed, returning the hug with equal force. "I was very glad to have you here," he said before he let go, smiling as he pulled back. "You and Jim both-- you've been great friends to Susan and me. Thank you-- I know we both were quite lonely before we came here, and it's been a relief to have such easy company to keep." He grinned. "You look lovely, by the way," he added, since he knew he would forget if he did not say it then.

Pam laughed as they both pulled back and shook her head. "Really, Jon. Sometimes I don't know where I'd be if I hadn't met you after showing up here," she said honestly, biting on her bottom lip a little. "The ceremony was amazing. If someone tells you that I cried, they're seriously lying."

Flushed, radiant, and seemingly incapable of the small, demure movements one might associate with the elegance of such an occasion, Lyanna swept down upon her son with outstretched arms, snatching the wine from his hand without warning and setting it down without explanation. Few words existed to describe the obvious elation etched into her features as she immediately tugged Jon up from his seat and led him out amongst the well-wishers.

And then she turned and raised her hands expectantly, wrists poised in request for the customary dance, her eyes so bright that the tears threatening to soak her lashes only served to magnify her happiness.
