The project was all but done. The building crew had done a hell of a job and the two story, U shaped boarding house had come together pretty fast once the framing was done and all the hands pitched in. Stu stood back from it on the path, admiring it for a spell. 12 rooms plus a common room for parties and Janie's clases and such. Seemed a long time ( Read more... )

Pintel had been taking a walk, thinking, as he tended to be doing on the island. He didn't like it here, even if Ragetti WAS here, and that they both weren't in prison. It took him a moment to notice the new building, and the man looking up at it. He shrugged mentally, there wasn't anything better to do.

"Oy, when'd tha' get 'ere?" He gestured up at the new structure.

Stu looked over at him and grinned. Seemed t'be he was always grinnin' anymore.

"Been comin' on for a few months, but she just got done today, hoss."

He nodded, agreeing silently. It did look very well done.

"Aye, looks right sturdy, it does. How long, 'xactly, did it take?"

"Nigh on six months, I reckon," Stu said, scratching his jaw. "Only cause we never worked on it straight through til last month, though."

That he had never seen the building before was the first thing that came to Albus' mind. It was a fair sight nicer than the Compound; certainly more unusual in shape and he was so very fond of the unusual. There was a man standing on the path, admiring the building in a way that hinted that he had, perhaps, had something to do with the construction of this most curious establishment.

"Good afternoon," he said, politely bowing his head in the direction of the man.

Stu turned towards the voice and what had begun as a grin sort of froze. That there man, he was the spittin' image of that Charles fella. Hoo, doggies.

"Howdy," he drawled, seein' no reason to get all bristled. Not for the time bein' anyhows. "Nice day for it."

A curious accent to match the curious building. "I do wonder," said Albus, "did you build this?"

Oh, dear Lord, he was British. Janie was gonna be fit to be tied.

"Yep, 'cept not all on my own. We got the buildin' crew around, so there were lotsa hands. I'm Stu Redman, from Arnette, Texas," he said, offering his hand. It was big, rough from working, and his grip was firm. "You a new fella 'round here?"
