"It is most certainly not 'just a game', it is despicable!" Ysandre exclaimed, still staring at the screen as the moving scene depicted a lovely dark-haired woman, apparently called Inara, closing the lid on a bin in which Saffron was trapped. "To use love in such a manner, to manipulate and deceive others...in my country it is akin to blasphemy! ( Read more... )

He's lookin' to have a chat with both. sheriff_pardy August 1 2007, 03:31:20 UTC
On his way past the rec room, Bill was a bit surprised t' see two women comin' at each other like they were 'bout to take a few swings. Two real pretty, sophisticated lookin' ladies, hissing at each other like two angry cats. One of 'em he'd met, first day, and for a moment Bill wondered if it might do him good to find himself a nametag.

"Anything I can help you ladies with?" he asked, comin' up on 'em careful-like. Looks could be deceivin' and somethin' told 'im this pair could be mighty dangerous.

Saffron had been winding up to hurl another acid-filled comment at the gorram Queen of Self-Righteousness when the sound of a familiar voice made her head snap towards it. She opened her mouth to ask Mal just what the gui made him think she'd be accepting his help anytime soon when she realized that it wasn't Mal; it was that other fella she'd met not long back who looked a lot like the Captain.

"Oh, we're just having ourselves a bit of a lively discussion, Sheriff," she said to Bill, immediately pasting on a dazzling smile. "You know how us womenfolk can get all worked up at times," she added teasingly.

Ysandre glanced over at Helen with a look that clearly said Surely you must be joking if you think this man is going to fall for that act before turning towards the gentleman to address him.

"How kind of you to offer, good sir," she replied graciously. "I believe we will not be requiring your assistance at present; we've unfortunately had a disagreement over somewhat though I do not believe it will escalate any further."

"Yeah," Bill said in a slow drawl that did nothin' to hide his wariness. He looked 'tween the two, almost laughed at all the charm they were tryin' so hard to throw his way. Damn good at it too, the both of 'em. "I seen plenty." It was directed at the redhead, Helen, 'cause if that weren't one calculating look he saw on her pretty face, he really was losin' his touch and outta throw in his badge right that minute.

both i imagine! incassielsname August 1 2007, 14:20:39 UTC
I find myself walking past the library room, when I hear raised voices. This is nothing out of the usual, as I rather believe that people spend more time arguing here than anything else. But the voices both belong to women, which is in itself unusual.

And one of the voices belongs to my queen.

I slide into the room and slip easily in front of Ysandre, hands on the hilts of my daggers, and glare coolly at the woman opposite her. "My lady," I say, addressing the woman with whom Ysandre is arguing, "I suggest this argument cease."

Saffron's eyebrows raised when the tall drink of water stepped in front of Ysandre, his hands on the daggers at his belt. "Did you just threaten me?" she snapped, glaring at him. And had he just called her 'my lady'?

"And just who are you supposed to be, anyway?" she continued. "Her majesty's bodyguard?" Her voice dripped with sarcasm.

Ysandre said nothing as Joscelin entered the room and moved in front of her. The level of danger here was hardly anything compared to what her Champion had faced previously in her defense, but it was some comfort to her to know he would immediately come to her defense no matter the situation. Ysandre remained silent, giving Joscelin the opportunity to respond to the woman as she knew he would.

I try to keep the sigh from my voice; she is not a rogue Cassiline or a traitor to the country, she is just an angry woman who is seeing fit to argue with my Queen.

"It is only a threat if you threaten my queen," I say softly, evenly. "As a matter of fact, I am Queen's Champion and, in effect, her bodyguard, as you have it." I drop my hands back to my sides harmlessly, palms open.
