Getting to Know You

Well, that sealed it. If Veronica hadn't been frozen to the spot, she'd've gotten the hell out of Dodge. "Hi," she said slowly, the grin returning with practiced ease. She'd seen Claire when the girl had joined their history class, but Arya had been the source of her invitation. And god, but it had been ages since anyone had come at her with her whole name. It felt kind of comfortable, actually. "How could I pass up a party with... glitter?"

Her mouth opened again, but she was flat out star struck. Claire squeaked her excitement without regard to being cool or collected at all.

"...Hi!" she beamed...once she'd found her voice.

"Let me guess," Veronica said, taking in a slow breath, head tilting as she smiled over at Claire, "I got your vote for the council?" She couldn't think of any reason the girl would be this excited about her, looking at her like she was someone important.

"Uh, no. Sorry," she cringed. "I voted for...other people. And I, um..." What had Logan said? Oh, real. That's right. "I know Logan," she said, deciding that was the safe answer.

"And you're still excited to have me here?" Veronica asked, eyes widening in mock-surprise. "The apocalypse really is happening." It was almost like an alien had taken over Logan. He was being nice. He was happy. Hell, he was married.

She hesitated. "The room looks great," she said with a decisive nod. "Any reason we're raising the roof tonight or we just doing it 'cause we can?"

"Because we can," she nodded. "I keep meeting grown ups and I figured a party was a good way for all of us this age to meet and hang out. It's a lot easier than, like, meeting on accident and stuff."

"It's a good idea," Veronica said. She was making an effort to be just a little less caustic, and really it kind of was. Most of her friend over the last year had been older than her by at least half a decade. "All we need are balloons and streamers and it'd be like parties at home." Back when she'd been younger, when she'd still been one of those girls.

"I thought that, too," Claire said with a nod. "But it could have been overkill, you know? Plus, I didn't find any."

Which was probably the reason there weren't any put up, because if there had been? She totally would have used them.

"Yeah, well, the island's not exactly known for being cooperative." Veronica smiled, weight shifting as she slid her hands into her pockets. "You haven't been around that long, have you? I've seen you in the Doctor's class."

"Yeah, I got in late. I've been here a couple months," she explained. "How about you? A year like Logan?"

"A couple months longer," Veronica said. "But yeah, about that." There was something distinctly unsettling about comparisons of any kind to Logan. "It's been good, aside from, you know, getting attacked by dinosaurs and hurricanes. That kind of thing."

"Hi." Violet cleared her throat, and walked over to the older girl who was standing there. "I'm Violet." She winced, making a face as she suddenly remembered her conversations with Sandy and Dennys. "... Not the colour." ... "Obviously."

She wished she could just facepalm and start over.

"Yeah, you're a little pale for that," Veronica assured her. She couldn't help the smug little smile on her face. It was second nature, for all her efforts. "Veronica. Veronica Mars."

[violet_ribbons]

"I actually met someone last week who knew the color." Her brows knit, and she shook her head a bit when she knew that even she couldn't even try to figure that one out.

"It's nice to meet you, Veronica." She looked almost... smug, but Violet wasn't going to let that bother her. In fact, she was going to try and let nothing bother her at all, tonight.

"...knew the color?" Veronica arched an eyebrow at that, curiousity flaring. Well, she'd met Death and Delirium. Why not colors? Soon she'd be faced the anthropomorphic personification of bottled water. "And I thought I'd heard everything living here."
