SLUMBER PARTY

May 18, 2007 18:41

Claire and Violet had shoved the furniture around in the rec room and set up the projector. There was a table with snacks and sandwiches, and Claire would have given her favorite bear for some cola. There was a make up case and some hair brushes, and some glitter covered decorations...just in case anyone could mistake the teen-girl-ambiance that ( Read more... )

Claire couldn't quit smiling. She was waaay too excited about the whole thing, and hoped she'd explained it okay to everyone she'd talked to. It'd suck if no one showed up at all.

There was no way that'd happen, though. Not with music and food and everything just right. This would be a blast.

Violet bit her lip, and didn't even realise she was pacing. More then pacing, really, she was hovering.

She didn't know what to do or say or where to put her hands, and it was highly disconcerting and making her flail like nothing else. "What should I be doing?" It was the third time she'd asked Claire that today, and she finally stopped pacing to look at her friend. "... I mean, I should be doing something, right?"

"You're fine, Violet. Just...chill. Pretty soon it'll be crowded."

She hoped.

Mulan hadn't even the foggiest idea of what a movie was -- or film, for that matter. The glittery message on the bulletin board had been all but forgotten as she walked to the rec room, in search of something interesting to read. She was, instead, assault by a gathering of girls, with their eyes fixed on a flat surface with a moving image dancing across it.

She stopped, her eyes drawn to the film. Sound. Speech, that corresponded with the movements of the picture-people's mouths. "W-what is this???" she asked.

"It's a movie," said Claire, sitting next to the girl she didn't know...but who was freaky familiar anyhow. "Haven't you ever seen a movie?"

"I've never even heard of a-- a movie? Is that because the picture moves?" she asked, hesitantly sitting down. She was dressed in a green shirt that was obviously about three sizes too big for her, and tied around the waist with a brown belt. Along with it, a pair of jeans, cut off and fraying at the knees.

It was just to check up on her. He couldn't help the worry, especially after his encounter with Claude. There was no telling, sometimes, who was on the island and after Claire's encounter with that worthless piece of crap Brody, Bennet could only be too careful.

He was still in the wheechair, wearing a grey t-shirt and a large bandage on his shoulder as he wheeled himself in carefully, not meaning to draw too much attention to himself. "Claire-Bear?" he asked, in a warm tone. "What's all this?"

Claire froze for a second, then smiled, but it was whisked away by the worry that clouded her eyes. "I should ask you the same, dad," she said, leaving the rest of the girls. "Why do you have a new bandage?"

Suddenly theslumber party, the music, all her new friends...they were the last thing on her mind.

Bennet was getting used to the wheelchair easily. Doctor's orders and all. "Don't you worry about me, sweetheart," he assured, giving her a warm smile. "Your old Dad just ran into an old friend and we had a bit of a disagreement."
