first visit to the compound

Jan 03, 2006 22:32

Of all the things to be nervous about, Archie was fairly certain that the compound and its library full of books should not have been at the top of his list. However he felt uncomfortable and he rather hated that feeling.

So he couldn't help fretting slightly as he eyed the structure. He took a deep breath because while being nervous was embarrassing, he thought it would be infinitely worse to have some sort of seizure because he had to enter a building of all things.

Right. He'd fought in battle, he'd dodged cannon-fire, and he was managing to be optimistic in spite of sharing a very small bit of space with one William Bush (which wasn't to say he didn't care deeply for William but the man was just decidedly gloomy about new experiences). He could most certainly do this.

He removed his hat and entered. He didn't really understand anything he saw in terms of machinery or materials but he just focused his gaze straight ahead of him and didn't not stop moving until he located the room with various bits of furniture and three bookshelves.

He stopped clutching his hat and stared at the shelves indecisively.
