bachelor party!

Ray would deny it till he turned blue in the face if anyone had ever asked him, but somehow fate had decided that one Stanley Raymond Kowalski was one of his best friends on the island. Yeah, who saw that one coming? Ray mostly blamed it on the fact that Stanley was all he had left from home and tried not to think too hard about it. So when one ( Read more... )

Ray couldn't believe he was having an actual bachelor party. The one he had when he was getting married to Stella had consisted of him and a couple friends going to a bar, then going bowling...which had been difficult 'cause they had been pretty drunk at that point.

(The only time Ray had been inside a strip club was on the job.)

This was definitely...different. The bar - Hub - was nice, though. A bar on a deserted island with dinosaurs, a bachelor party and a wedding in a parallel universe. Life was fucking funny when you thought about. Which Ray was trying not to do right now; think. Mostly he was focused on getting his drink on.

"So what do you think?" said Ray, punching Stanley on the shoulder. "Nice, huh? So just remember, if I ever decide to tie the knot again, you gotta do the same for me."

"Just as long as it's not to Stella again," Ray said, pointing at Vecchio with his glass in hand. "It's nice, though, and uh, unexpected. Thanks."

"Yeah, if your Stella shows up on the island, I think that's the last thing we're gonna need to be worrying about," said Ray with an indelicate snort. "You know what I need? I need another drink. Have you tried one of those fruity things they're doing?"

Archie had little to no idea as to what a bachelor party entailed although he did like the idea of drinking or playing some sort of harmless prank on Horatio. Hm. He would have to come up with something to do before drinking, however so he was not heading over to the bar but debating his future plans in one of the corners of the room. He wasn't likely to be very clever after a few rounds of moonshine.

Inigo had already finished one drink and was getting a second when spotted a man he thought he knew and decided to get a drink for him as well. "Do you think," he said as he handed it to him, "that this is the sort of party where we might be called upon to sing?"

Archie happily accepted the drink and smiled. "Thank you. And it's quite likely. I only hope Horatio doesn't try singing on his own." Or dancing for that matter.

"Ah, that is very good," said Inigo. "This Horatio, he is not a very good singer? I liked very much when we sang the last time."

After she finished her performance, Mimi scooped up her clothes and hurried off to dress again, then came back out to mingle, maybe even get lucky. She wrapped the silky leopard print robe with the black marabou trim she'd started the dance in tightly around her and leaned against the wall, shooting inviting, flirtatious glances in the direction of anyone who made eye contact with her. Male, female, didn't matter to her.

"Hey!" Newbie all but bounces over to her. "Hey! I liked your dance! How d'you get your hips to move like that?"

Mimi grinned at the hyper man. "Years of practice, baby," she purred, touching his shoulder lightly. "Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it."

"Years?" Newbie considers this and continues undeterred. "I bet I could do it! You wanna see?"

Carrot had been to many a gay wedding1 before, but a bachelor party was an entirely new experience. He arrived wearing plainclothes -- khakis and a black button down shirt -- and a curious, happy sort of smile, his hands clasped respectfully behind his back. And, as usual, he towered over absolutely everyone.

1. As in dwarfish weddings. Traditionally, female dwarfs are indistinguishable from male dwarfs. Dwarfish courtship is an incredibly tactful affair, primarily concerned with finding out which gender the other dwarf is. Yet even on a dwarf's wedding day, both are still addressed by way of the male pronoun.

Carrot wasn't hard to spot in a crowd, and Ray made his way over with a drink in each hand. "Hey, buddy, have some of this stuff, it's actually drinkable," he said in way of a rather enthused (buzzed) greeting.

Carrot didn't drink; back in Ankh-Morpork he'd been the one perpetually sober dwarf. Still, he decided to get into the spirit of the party, so he took the drink and said, "Thank you, Ray. You've a nice little gathering here."

"You're welcome," Ray replied. He pointed out Mimi to Carrot. "Look, it's my last naked woman unless Horatio turns into one again. She's pretty," he observed, looking wistful and mostly inebriated.

Having finally gotten clean after their long day, Ianto had managed to change into one of his suits. The jacket had been neatly stashed away, but he still looked rather professional in a waistcoat. He didn't know the couple, but he felt an obligation to be there nonetheless. Drink Tosh had poured him in hand, Ianto stayed to a back corner, out of the way but not hiding.

"You're skulking," Gwen tells him as she slips over to perch her chin atop Ianto's shoulder. She's got a drink in hand, but has only had a few sips, so the way she's practically glowing has to be owing to something else. Their opening day success, perhaps. "You have to dance with me tonight."

"If I am, then you are too," Ianto observed. He turned his head to glance at her, the corner of his mouth tugging upwards at the obvious glow on her. "But if we dance, I can't skulk," he complained, lips immediately turning down in a playful pout.

"It'll just be a break from skulking," Gwen replies, bouncing up onto tiptoe just long enough to press a brief kiss to Ianto's cheek. "Surely even you can manage that."
