Three days felt like forever when you were stuck inside a hut. He'd been staying with Joe ever since Ray had caught him out in the woods playing with his gun. As a result, Joe had been keeping a pretty close watch on him since bringing him home. It was to be expected though, he figured, apparently trying to shoot yourself was a bad thing ( Read more... )

Instead of going to the Hamlet, Duncan had taken a shower. On a crimescene timeline, it would have looked a little strange, but he did his best thinking in the shower. So he took the time to weigh Neil's words. What if he was right?

He had to try, he decided, and as he came out of the Compound to head toward the Hamlet, he almost collided with the man of the hour.

"Logan!" Maybe it sounded a little too excited because Logan was OK and... yeah. He was just gonna shut up.

"Duncan," Logan replied, lacking Duncan's enthusiasm as he quirked a brow. "Can I help you?" he asked, looking around curiously.

People couldn't know yet. There was no way... right? Whatever. Like he cared.

Well, Duncan didn't know anything. All he knew was that Neil and Logan both skipped town- well, skipped the hut- and he was alone, sleeping on a pile of laundry and it got cold at night.

"I dunno," Duncan admitted. "I just... I ran into Neil and he said he didn't know where you were." It wasn't like he was worried

(so worried that his stomach clenched and please oh please let him be OK)

or anything.

"So you don't know then," Logan nodded, too worn out to give Duncan any shit. "Here I was worrying that I was going to get soaked with tears of a boy scout. I'm fine. I'm staying with Joe until..."

He sighed a little and shook his head. "I'm just staying with Joe for a while. It's not a big deal. I'll be back at the hut eventually. What did Neil say?"

After his talk with Dale, Joe had decided to just walk again, just fucking walk and wish things were different and think about all the shit he couldn't do. At the same time he was still grateful that he had his best friend, but there was so much more he wanted.

"Hey," he said when he saw Logan approaching, trying to sound normal. Logan didn't need his shit right now.

"I wasn't doing anything," Was Logan's first reply, followed by a much smoother sounding "I was gonna shower. I didn't think you'd care. You were out so... Yeah. I'm not doing anything though."

"And I was just saying 'hey'," Joe said, pausing to study Logan, wondering why he was so defensive. "As in, good morning, hi, hello, hey. That kinda hey." It was like Logan was the only person on the island he felt at east around anymore, he wasn't about to try to alienate him.

"And I was just saying... I'm not doing anything," Logan shrugged. "I'd invite you along, but, uh, I don't want you to take it the wrong way when I ask if you want to come while I take a shower."
