Finally, finally, Sola had stopped crying quite so much every day. She'd started noticing the world around her, and for Padme, that meant she could see the world around herself, too. For instance, this morning she was on a blanket outside in the shade, singing softly as she slowly moved the soft flower that Nick had given her for the baby in front ( Read more... )

Some mornings, Isolde was slow, moving late and taking her time to get things going. Others she was fast and quick and full of life, but always, she was outdoors, enjoy the feel of the sun burning off the grass and coming warmth and nice scent of being alive.

That morning she could hear the singing as she moved through the grass, picking her barefeet over open field and she moved in the direction of the sound, smiling as she did so.

"Morning, mo cáem," she greeted, softly.

Padme looked up, her hand still moving the flower from side to side. "Isolde! How are you?" She looked down at Sola, and then back up at her. "I don't think you two have met yet - would you like to have a seat?" She pressed the flower to one of Sola's hands, smiling as she managed to grab a hold of it, which meant she was going to try and eat it.

"'m just lovely, how're we?" Gently and carefully she picked her way about the woman, sitting down on the other side of the baby.

"She's lovely, absolutely lovely. What's her name, Padme?" she asked curiously, watching the child. Those whom the Gods smile upon are fortunate, and clearly they are beaming on them. It warms her heart.

Padme flushed, gently separating her daughter (and her daughter's mouth) from the flower. "Thank you - and we're doing very well this morning." She smiled at that, and she tried not to run her fingers over Sola's arm, but there was just something about that smooth chubby skin that begged to be touched. "Her name is Sola - it's my sister's name."

She let Sola gum her knuckle instead, not even thinking before she did so. Sola's bright blue eyes focused on Isolde, her brows furrowing for a moment. She'd just barely starting actually using her face expressively, and it always fascinated Padme.

The weather was a bit more tolerable in the morning, and Anya spent a lot of her walking time in the morning, just wandering about and taking in the sights. Pooka had slept in this particular morning, so she was alone in her wanderings, hands clasped behind her back as she enjoyed the cool ocean air.

There were worse places to be, if she had to be taken from her home.

She came upon a woman with her child soon after she left, and for a moment she watched, feeling both a smile appear and a longing ache. She was seeing a true family, and a part of her wished she had known such a loving gaze. She wandered over slowly, offering the woman a small nod in greeting.

"You have such a beautiful baby," she complimented, her fingers playing with the small necklace around her neck. "What's her name?"

Padme smiled at the woman she's not met before, letting Sola grab onto the flower. "Thank you - Her name is Sola." Padme leaned forward to gently pry the soft toy from her grasp, and winced when her hand close on a curl instead. "I'm Padme - it's nice to meet you-" She was trying to extricate her hair from her daughter's grasp.

"Forgive me if I don't get up. You can join me, if you like?" She laughed, still bent nearly double as she worked at getting the tiny fingers to let go.

Anya bit back a laugh as the poor woman tried to free her hair. She sat down as offered, though, watching them with a faint grin.

"I'm Anya," she said. "It looks like Sola has a good grip. That's a good sign. Or maybe a bad one, depending on how you look at it."

Padme laughed, finally getting her hair free. "It happens at least three times a day, whether I have it tied back or not - so yes. Quite strong." She smiled at the other woman. "It's nice to meet you, Anya - I've not seen you around before-" She went back to slowly moving the flower. "Are you new on the island?"

Mrs. Bennet walked on her sturdy legs, enjoying the fine day. With such beautiful scenery all around her, she found that she did not miss home at times. She meant to gather some flowers to brighten her room, but her eye was caught by what appeared to be a young mother and her child. She was instantly drawn to them, so she wandered over.

"What a lovely baby," she said. The child's mouth bright pink mouth fell open as its mother shook a toy around. "So very alert for such a young one."

Padme smiled, looking down at her daughter for a moment before looking back up at the woman. "Thank you - she'd just now started to follow things with her eyes consistantly." Padme flushed, and ducked her head. "I suppose I'm reading too many books, but there you are." She nodded her head to the woman in greeting, moving her skirt a bit so if she wished to sit as well, there was room. "Do you have any children?"

"I raised five daughters," Mrs. Bennet said. "One of them, Mrs. Redman, is here as well. She grew into a wonderful woman, though I admit my bias."

She looked at the very happy baby. "She is quite a pretty little thing. What is her name?"

Padme's eyes widened. "Goodness - you're Jane's mother?" She smiled, and then ducked her head. "She is a wonderful woman indeed - and thank you. Her name is Sola, after my sister." She looked down at her daughter, and skimmed her fingers over her daughter's hair, looking at her bright blue eyes.

"She has her father's eyes - I don't think they're going to change color."
