a ring of endless light

There was a sweet, airy smile on her face, as Romana walked demurely into the rec room. Her hair was parted and pulled back off her face for once, falling in two blonde pleats down her back, and in her hand there was single lemon lollipop. For once in her life, she felt light, brilliantly light and airy, bursting with things and thoughts of bubbles and sunshine and sweetness. She was quite positive that she was going to float away.

The first thing she’d done when this feeling of joy had come to her, she realised that the clothes she’d been wearing simply wouldn’t do. They were stiff, stuffy, and not her at all. No, now she was much better, in the freer, in the very thin purple sundress. Not to mention it was pretty too. She giggled slightly and fidgeted with the end of one of her braids as she looked about the room.

She heard the jukebox switch, but didn’t pay it much notice as she wondered if there was anyone who needed or wanted a hug or sweet or a chat. Maybe there was a child around, children were wonderful, so perfect and cuddly and sweet, divine creatures. Like little angels. She sighed and pouted slightly, bottom lip wibbling for a moment before she put the lollie in her mouth upon the realisation she was alone. Drat.

Let's get married
I love you and I want to stay with you
Let's get married
Have kids and grow old and grey with you
Let's get married
Hold hands, walk in the park
You can get a cat as long as it barks

Romana’s whole face brightened as she realised what the song was saying. It was so happy and sweet and exactly what she wanted. How did the box know? It was really be too nice to just read her mind like that and she felt that she owed it something. Maybe a hug, or a kiss or perhaps a nice pat on the head. Yes, all those seemed reasonable. She walked over to the jukebox, the song still playing and making her bubbly on the inside, as she very sweetly and innocently gave it nice pat on the top, and pulled the sweet from her mouth so she could give it a kiss on the glass.
