Summary
The ragtag Riverside Ducks, the butt of every joke in the Greater Toronto Peewee Hockey League, couldn’t win a game to save their lives. As rambunctious on the ice as they are off it, this team of misfits gets lucky when their intrepid new coach turns out to be just as plucky as they are, and all his eccentric training tactics start to turn the team around. But just as the suddenly mighty Ducks are inching closer to the play-offs and that all-important championship trophy, hockey is surprisingly the last thing on anyone's mind: Jensen Ackles gets an unwelcome blast from the past; Jared Padalecki gets the second chance he's been waiting an entire lifetime for; and on the sidelines, a flock of meddling Duck-lings learn what it means to fly in a vee. And as Jensen and Jared soon find out, sometimes falling in love feels a lot like flying.

Author's Notes
The Mighty Ducks was just there on the j2_everafter list of prompts, unclaimed, beckoning slyly at me. I've been having a blast with J2 et al in my Jays2 baseball 'verse, which tempted me into thinking about a J2 in the NHL Leafs story, because - hockey boys? Hell to the yeah! I shelved the idea not long after, though, because: one, I'm not crazy, and two, I'm busy with other fics, and three, I should really be focused on trying to find a job right now.
Still, it's The Mighty Ducks, right? That movie is an iconic part of kidhood and I couldn't resist doing a J2 spin on it. That said, this is not a re-hashing of the movie per se, but it will fly in a vee with the film, en pointe but expanded. At least, that's what I was going for. Also, it's schmoopy and sappy, but it's Disney, people! I don't know what my excuse is other times, since schmoop seems to be the only channel I subscribe to, but hope y'all like it.

The Toronto Raptors are our NBA Basketball team. All other teams mentioned are a figment of my over-active imagination.
This fic is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I also mention Cobourg and Kingston, Ontario, which are east of Toronto, a ninety minute and three hour drive respectively, and Kingston is home to Queen's University which is also mentioned in this fic. Barrie is an hour and a half drive, while Algonquin Provincial Park is about four hours away; both are north of Toronto.
Thanksgiving in Canada is before Halloween. Yeah, 'cause we make our own rules up here in the Great White North, probably just to be contrary. God, I love being Canadian.
For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past decade or so (heh!) Hermione Granger is a witch, while Ron Weasley and Cedric Diggory are wizards from the Harry Potter universe. Edward is a sparkly vampire from the Twilight series, and Bella is his girl (except maybe when she's hanging out with the wolf dude, I’m guessing; I never made it past the first book or the first movie). Cedric and Edward were both played by the same actor on film.
The Goonies is a classic. If you haven't seen it, channel your inner child and go watch it! It’s great fun and if you manage to get your hands on the DVD, watch it with the commentary; it’s awesome. It features the Truffle Shuffle, mentioned in the fic. It's here on YouTube.
Also a classic kid flick: The Mighty Ducks. The series is great but the first one is a gem. Emilio Estevez is awesome as Coach Gordon Bombay and an adorable Joshua Jackson plays the main kid, Charlie. All the kids are hilarious, and the movie is worth a watch if you haven't seen it yet, and it's definitely worth a re-watch even if you have.
