Adding rock music to war footage makes an ass of you and me, because even though you're a soldier, we're both Americans. Please don't let our war look like your video game

If you're talking about our soldiers, I have no problem with it.
I don't want some PC, level headed private fighting my war for me. I want a viscious, blood thirsty maniac! Let the officers be officers and the warriors be warriors.
When the upper officers become blood thirsty maniacs is when we've got problems.
That's a good argument for avoiding military confrontation whenever possible.
Still, our soldiers are not just warriors. They are the face of America to the people whose country we're changing. Our soldiers have to be peacekeepers and rebuilders, too. At least, in some cases.
I echo your objections. The glorification of war is the only reason it's still a viable foreign policy tool. If they showed us the veterans' hospitals and the death tolls of civilians who were killed as collaterol damage to the same kick ass music, I'm sure there'd be more than a few of us objecting.
Especially when considering the type of warfare we're involved in now, and will likely be involved with for the rest of America's global domination: we're in the business of breaking down and then building back up the country we invaded, and when charged with that task, it's of the uttermost importance that we consider our images just as fully as we've considered our course of military action.
Jarhead. For as flawed as it is, it still brings these types of concerns to the forefront of a valuable debate.
