Hm. (I've been saying that a lot today.) This is interesting, but also a bit frightening. Children's television programming is already "market driven" in the sense of new ideas being developed because of the ease with which merchandise can be marketed by the programming, and this ipad app could influence the sort of things being written. This might not be a bad thing, but it might not be good, either.
Or maybe I'm just cranky, because I don't think people would enjoy a game based on my books... What, running through London like shithouse rats while the Luftwaffe lights it all up? Maybe...

I'm thinking this would be a good problem to have if something like this moves far enough to influence publishing.
Right now, I'm thinking of publishers and authors battling anonymity in a sea books, with limited marketing and promo budgets, and of the untapped promotional power of 85 million iPhones and iPod Touches out there. A free fun game with a book's stamp all over it, links to purchasing, has to make some difference. Hope so, anyway. The real issue is how to make this effective without costing too much. Maybe it can't be done.
