OK, these people are officially so fucking hateful that they will chop off their own noses and serve them to their own faces with a nice Chianti rather than admit that the human race is twice the size they would like it to be, and comes in more than one regulation model.

First they didn't want women to come to the Con at all. The they were like

I'll give a pass on dissing the Twilight fans, since the accounts, both male and female, that I heard about ComicCon were that the stereotypical Twilight fans (of which there were many) were horrendously rude and obnoxious, to the extent of getting Con staff to force a woman - who needed a cane to stand - out of her seat because "I wanted that seat". Massive fail on the part of Comic Con staff, but also massive fail on the part of quite a lot of Twilight fans (the whining about getting a woman out of a seat for those who needed physical accommodation was not an isolated incident that weekend. You know a fandom has hit a new level of batshit crazy when the main actor has no compunction about letting his fans know that they scare him shitless and most of them don't care).

The rest? Stank. And I won't shrug it off as "oh well, it's Comic Con" but unfortunately, I think that a significant chunks of my potential methods for dealing with it would be illegal in California.

Oh hey, I'm not defending Twilight fans. They're batshit crazy. But most of the criticism of them is unbelievably gendered: they're always shrieking, tween girls embodying some incohate sexual menace. It's not exactly an original pattern, the bobbysoxers and Brosettes trod this ground well, so I'm not prepared to believe that there is something *especially* batshit crazy about these crowds. Except of course for the fact that they are intruding to something which - against all available evidence - sees itself as a male dominated field.

And yeah, I'm with you on the second part. I can do absolutely nothing about this asshattery except whine about it. I can't even threated to boycott comics, cause I love 'em too much... =( /me is teh powerluss
