55 Days of Btvs: Day 1
Day 1: Favourite Character
Kinda varies with my mood, but today is definitely a Buffy Summers day.
I mean, just look at her. Beautiful, brave and achingly human, I just don’t understand people who don’t love Buffy. She goes from a peppy teenager who just wants to fit in, to a young woman embracing her mission in life, to a grief-stricken parent for her younger sibling, to a battle-hardened hero who struggles so hard to connect to her loved ones that it almost ends them all. She runs away, both physically and emotionally, she falters, she falls down and gets things terribly, terribly wrong, but you know what else? Throughout it all, she never gives up, never shies away from her calling, never stops trying to be everything that everyone needs her to be, no matter the cost to herself. Her animus is love itself, burning so bright and so hot that it’s no wonder she gets burned as much as she does. But whatever protective armour she builds around her heart, Buffy never stops loving with her whole being, and in the end it’s what makes her so strong.
