Dawn checked her caller ID first, thanks. "Hi." At least she didn't burst into tears this time?

"But it's not protecting me from him. Sam would never, ever hurt me." She paused, and realized that that wasn't quite true anymore. "Okay, he'd never hurt me on purpose or physically. He's just such a boy."

"And they're stupid," Rikku agreed, nodding. "I meant the whole, you know. This Is Dangerous, It Could Affect You BS. Reno pulled that with his job. I could get hurt, as a bystander! Okay, and? Let me make that choice, you idiot. You told me, now it's my decision, because I'm not a freaking toddler and I can decide this crap from myself."
