Val was tagged by wanderingjasper
1. Val is full blooded Japanese and speaks the language fluently, although she has never visited Japan. She still hopes to, someday.
2. Her maternal grandmother was a Geisha from the 1930's up until 1944 when the geisha way of life was refuted and everyone forced into factories. Once geisha began to re-emerge about a year later, Val's grandmother chose not to return to the geisha lifestyle, and instead she married Val's grandfather and produced four children with him.
3. She has three tattoos; one largely prominent and colorful dragon that covers her entire back, and the other two are at the insides of her ankles and are Japanese symbols for Honesty and Love.
4. Val is an artist; she paints on large canvas whenever she needs an outlet and her pieces are full of abstract emotion. She has entered only a handful into shows - and has done well for herself in the outcomes - but mostly she keeps her art to herself. She considers her paintings very personal to her, as they were most always created from some emotional upset or event, and she is afraid that others would "see" what she was feeling when it was created.
5. She is dyslexic when it comes to numbers. She has always had a very hard time with math because of this and she nearly failed both seventh grade and eighth grade before she was properly diagnosed. From ninth grade on she was required to take math tests in a separate room with an aide to read her the questions, and sometimes her tests were printed on green or yellow paper to help her with visual equations.
6. She is chronically late, every where she goes. She has a hard time keeping down a job that tolerates this type of behavior. She is not lazy, but she seems to have a different routine every time she leaves the house, therefore never quite getting her timing right.

She has several piercings: six in her ear (three in the lobe, two cartilage or "helix", and a "snug"); both eyebrows and anti-eyebrows, the bridge of her nose, and the septum; a labret piercing and tongue; her navel; and she also has both clitoral and labial piercings. Despite all this (and the tattoos) she is not into BDSM which is a common misconception with her, but she is addicted to body adornment. Her next piercing is planned to be her right nipple.
8. Even though Val is outwardly light-hearted and bubbly, she has severe depression and self esteem issues, both of which Ben preys easily on and because of that, she is easily manipulated.
9. She has done several illegal drugs in the past; cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy. Her favorite is E because of the feelings of euphoria that the high entails, and because she doesn't have to snort or inhale it to get what she wants.
10. She has a younger sister, Lily, who is fifteen. She has been trying to clean up the image she presents for her sister's sake, but believes that before she can consider herself "role-model-material", she must limit the amount of time she spends with her. Because of this, Lily is distant towards her and Val sees this as rejection, therefore fueling the mental issues she endures.

1. She is a very quiet person; both soft-spoken and demure, but get her angry or threaten someone she loves and she will tear the walls down with ferocious intent.
2. Although she is most often considered prudish or innocent, she has a dirty mouth. She has tried to curtail it since the birth of Delilah, however.
3. When she had Delilah she decided to stay at home with her until Lilah was six months old. She then started working part-time at her mother's law firm as a secretary, and she took night courses at the local community college to be an ultrasound technician. She received her degree within a year and she now works for the Edanomella OB-GYN and Associates office - which is located in the city.
4. Christiana used to have a deep respect for "the rules" when she was little. She didn't like being yelled at - in fact, whenever her parents used to even raise their voice, she would cower or start to cry. She has never talked back to her parents, even now, and she hates to disagree with Claire (although she will when she has to).
5. She is very insecure about her ability to be a good mother to Lilah. She is scared that she will set a bad example for her daughter somehow, but is determined to show her that women are strong. The one thing she dreads is the day that Lilah asks where her father is.
6. Ever since Carlos, she has started picking up her Spanish-English dictionary that she used to use in high school and learning different words and phrases so that she can help Lilah learn about and embrace her heritage.
7. Her sister has a good singing voice, but Christiana does not. She's not exactly tone-deaf, but singing is not her strong suit. If she were to have a hidden talent, it would be that she can write decent poetry, and fast. She once wrote a twelve-stanza poem in iambic pentameter in less than six minutes.
8. Even having grown up on an island with ocean-front property, deep water makes her nervous.
9. She is very proficient on a computer - she knows how to customize the machinery and can configure it to her liking. Whenever Claire or her parents have problems on their computers they call her to see if she can fix it, and she usually can.
10. She has only ever been drunk twice in her life before. Once when she was a freshman in college; she and Cris threw a party for the end of their first year. The second time was when Lilah was conceived. She has refused to drink to excess since.
So I know I'm supposed to tag 5 more characters... but this thing has been getting around a LOT lately, so what I'm going to do is tag AUTHORS and then leave it to their discretion which character they would like to do. So here goes!
