bed frames; a hercules/hedone ficlet.

At the rate they were going, everyone at the furniture store would know them by name. She was starting to think about setting up an account -- maybe they'd get a discount next time.

"Can I help you?" a helpful employee asked, drifting over to them. "Decorating a new apartment?" she added, looking them over with a knowing smile.

"Not quite," Hercules said with a slight blush. "We're just looking for a new bed frame."

"And a new box spring," Hedone added.

"Oh, alright. Are you looking for something in wood, or metal?"

"Something cheap," Hedone said. "But the sturdiest you've got."

"Cheap and sturdy?" the woman repeated blankly.

"Yes. We're sort of hard on beds," Hedone said with a touch of mischievous spite, inwardly giggling at the wooden expression that had suddenly taken up residence on the woman's face. She glanced at Hercules from the corner of her eye, and had to struggle to keep the laugh inward -- his face was so red it could have fried an egg.

"I'm sorry, again," he said as they were leaving the store, after leaving the address with the delivery boy. "I should be more careful..."

"Hercules," she said firmly, taking hold of his arm. "Don't ever apologize again on that count. And don't you dare be more careful. Seriously. Don't."

He started blushing again, and there was nothing for it but to kiss it off him.
