Marcus is only five minutes late from morning training in his own estimation, which means he is still fifteen minutes earlier than anyone else. Or at least that is how it should be. He is instantly suspicious when he sees not one but five members of his team out on the ice, and even though he wants to believe they are here to train, Marcus knows better.

His suspicions are confirmed when he gets near enough to the rink to see what's going on.

"Hey, what the fuck do you think you are doing, assholes?" Marcus yells at the top of his lungs, meanwhile trying to yank on his skates without taking his eyes off the action in the rink.

"Just playin' around, boss," Eric yells back, doing his best airheaded jock impression as he slides over to Marcus, panting. "Ya know, just makin' friends."

"Is that so," Macus replies flatly. "So I did not just see you short track racing a Canadian figure skater."

"Aww boss, it's not like we forced him or anythin'," Eric whines

The next time Marcus sees Esca Cunoval, the little guy is arguing with some dude twice his size in front of the community center. Marcus knows about fifteen words of French, so all the angry yelling is totally lost on him, but they look about ten seconds from becoming physical. There are quite a few onlookers, but no one seems keen on stepping in

Marcus doesn't know whether to be relieved or annoyed when there is no one else up in the room. Now he has an angry figure skater all to himself, and frankly, he has no fucking idea how to go about this. Pep talks, Marcus can do, but he has a feeling Cunoval would actually punch him in the face if he tried to go all motivational on him

There is no training today, since they are playing Sweden in the afternoon. Marcus still gets up at six like he always does, and he still goes to the rink because all sitting around does to him is make him even more nervous
