TITLE: Mutually Assured Destruction SUMMARY: There are three people in this relationship and one of them is dead. RATING: PG-13, Wes/Illyria WARNINGS: Spoilers to The Girl In Question.
Only pins him with her stare, like a bug under the microscope (Fred liked microscopes, and bugs, and the patterns of light early in the morning).
I think that's the worst bit of the entire Fred/Ilyria dynamic to me. (Worst as in heartbreaking.) Fred's soul is destroyed, but parts of her still exist in Ilyira? I kind of hated how that worked.
I have issues with the whole Fred/Illyria thing too. So heartbreaking. I like Illyria and Fred but it hurts that one had to be destroyed to get the other.
Spooky. Odd. Faceted. Wonderful to see the world through Illyria's eyes. I love the fragmented narrative, which suits her so well, both as a former god-like thing and as that thing living inside what used to be Fred. You've got her so poised between so much, between death and wanting, her two selves, there and not there -- it's a fascinating read, not least because I can almost taste the humanity that's upsetting her.

Very nice dark little story hon.
