When done by NIN, the song was very good. Reznor put a lot of himself into it. But when Cash got ahold of it and did his version, well, from what I understand Reznor loved that Cash wanted to do a cover of a NIN song, but was somewhat against Hurt because of how personal the song was for him until he actually heard Cash's cover, and then he relented willingly. In Reznor's own words, "To hear the result really reminded me how beautiful, touching and powerful music can be." And I absolutely love the video. I still get goosebumps every time I hear that song or see that video.
