Outside of the Building

Lore is outside, absentmindedly scanning the horizon, when he notices someone approaching him.

"There you are, Brother," he greets pleasantly, turning around. "Have you made any progress with La Forge?"

"It is too early to tell if the nanocortical fibers performed their function," Data replies, flatly.

He watches Lore carefully, looking for something. He is not sure what he is looking for. Perhaps a reason to stay…

Why is it that he seems to have forgotten why he is here in the first place?

Lore is utterly oblivious to Data's confusion. He's not even looking at him, at the moment.

"I suspect none of the humans will survive the process, but then, it's their own fault, isn't it?" He glances at his brother again. "They never should have come here."

He laughs. "What were they thinking?"

Data stares at the empty space between them, taking the rhetorical question seriously.

"They came looking for me," he answers.

Lore scoffs again. "Humans are so sentimental," he observes, in a mocking tone.
