Fuck all. He'd just wanted it to go so well for him and-- Well, quite obviously it didn't.

He was useless over in Braintree, he was useless behind a fucking keyboard and talking about something like that over AIM of all things. He'd been bunking down on a Saturday night like a crazy person - ( Read more... )

The door to his parents' room was closed, making it amazingly easy to sneak out. Not that -- he was sneaking out, really, but he was leaving when his dad sent him to his room, sent him to his room, God, he needed to see Sirius.

Pushing the back door open, Remus ran down the slight hill behind their house, going toward the tree. He needed to see Sirius so desperately, he wasn't going to cry, he just wasn't.

Augh-- Fuck. There he was. Sirius actually seized up a moment, dreading what was coming, dreading-- Remus in such a foul mood, what was going to be sad, what else his parents might have said. He wasn't particularly emotionally equipped for this shit, but he was going to tamp right the fuck down on that, especially with Remus coming at him like he was now, full tilt. Remus needed him to not be a pussy, so there it was.

"What's going on?" he got out, automatically, even though Remus was still a few yards away, even though he knew the answer - less an actual question than a demand that was a bit portrayed by the ache of worry in his voice. Fuck, it had barely been a week and he'd missed him so much. "Are you-- Okay, fuck, what's." He jerkily went for Remus, soon as they were close enough.

Remus's heart clenched when he saw Sirius. He just shook his head, moving toward Sirius quickly, wrapping his arms around the other boy and burying his face in Sirius's neck. "Dammit," he said into Sirius's shirt.

If not for the obvious, merely for his lack of eloquence, Sirius could guess just how fucked up Remus was feeling. It wasn't exactly odd when the boy swore - far less common than when Sirius did, anyway - but. He didn't know. Just swearing for the sake of swearing was-- well. And Sirius automatically drew his arms back around him, tightly, one of his hands moving straight to the back of Remus' hand to tangle into his hair.

"Do you wanna talk? Do you just wanna-- this? What's--" Sirius drew in a deep breath, hanging on reassuringly and giving Remus a little squeeze. "Tell me what you need, yeah?"

"Um. No, just -- just this? For right now? I don't know. I can't even think of -- what else to do," Remus said, rubbing his eyes. "I feel like my brain is just, on vacation, it can't focus, and. I don't know. What do you think I should do?"

"Yeah, no, that's fine." It was maybe all he felt capable of doing at present time anyway. And hopefully he'd be able to find something interesting enough to say in the meantime. He wasn't sure when that was going to not fail him, not yet. "I think-- I think." He paused, frowning a little. "I think you have to see what they're getting at first. Where they're, I dunno. At. Mentally. And like I said, you ever need to get away, with the Potters and all that."

"No, I know," Remus said, taking Sirius's hand in his and entwining their fingers. He kept his gaze on their hands as he nodded. "I -- I hope we can talk about it before they go. I guess I just have to wait and see."

Sirius squeezed Remus' a little, shoulders tightening in the slightest as he looked up at him, then, a bit concerned. "They wouldn't-- your da wouldn't jump to kicking you out or anything, right?"
