the kind of government we voted in last night is pretty much my ideal ‐ a moderately liberal president (yes. *moderately* liberal. by *global* standards), and a Congress that is balanced enough for real debate while leaning left. not to mention, an election whose results were in by 10pm. for the first time in my voting career, I went to ( Read more... )

it's political

damn mel, why you gotta be all reasonable? obama shits RAINBOWS DAMMIT.

but you're right, he is moderate. but at least he's intelligent, and he's a fantastic orator. i have no doubt that he'll be able to get some real work done. it feels like a new dawn today. people are still celebrating out here.

and you heard about prop 2? yeah, that's awesome. it passed in a landslide. but i can't fucking believe prop 8 won. i'm literally astounded. i thought there was no way. :(

on the plus side, we also voted down prop 4, which was a prop to declare that minors had to manditorily notify their parents before an abortion. so that's good. and while SF didn't manage to legalize prostitution, berkeley did manage to keep medical marijuana legal, and clinics will start opening up.

it's a weirdly mixed bag here, but overall, while i'm proud to be an american today, i'm ashamed of being a californian. which is a new experience, from both sides.

lol. I know, you'd think I abandoned him for weeks or something. he's been all up in my shit for the past 2 hours, giving me that cranky little meow he makes when he wants snuggles and I'm not being properly accommodating.

so were those gimmehands for the whorefic or the Jeff-fic. hahaha.

Here in the UK, Mr Obama would be seen as a moderate conservative.

So odd to hear all these people accusing him of being some kind of crazy extreme left-winger.

I totally agree with you on all the points and i kinda see Obama's newbish outlook as a good thing. He's not jaded yet, he's fresh and he has a battle tried vice pres to help him also. and one that won't molly coddle him cause they've already have both said they DON'T see eye to eye on everything. Good, you shouldn't, having both sides of the coin i think is going to be a positive thing.

now if they can fix the countries biggest problems or at least chip away and get us pointed in the right direction i'll be satisfied.

I am SO PISSED about prop 8 i can NOT begin to say. FUCKING MORONIC IDIOTS!!! IT'S DISCRIMINATION!!!!!!!!! HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO.........

grrrrrrrrrrrr....guess you know how i voted huh? like i'd vote any other way.

stupid stupid people.

sorry just a wee bit pissed thank you very much.

I really don't envy anyone all of that.

I can't remember who said it but someone joked that after looking at his political plate Obama might ask for a recount.

A presidency is more than just one man, and he seems like the type of person to surround himself with good advisers

I think ultimately a leader needs good judgment and that is what I think sank McCain and will help Obama.

And Yes about Prop 2 which hasn't been much discussed in the news.
