Oh, I heard about it yesterday. I still can't believe it. In fact, I found out like this:

MOM: There's a pregnant man on the news!
ME: *not looking up from clay figure I iz making* Awesome!
MOM: *keeps watching TV* Oh, the New Kids on the Block are reuniting.
ME: *jumps* Wut? OMG WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT HAPPENING!
MOM: ...

I didn't like them as a kid either.

Mark's brother Donnie was in the band. At the time, it was all "DONNIE!" and oh, yeah-his little brother Marky does music, too.

But Mark was smart enough to use his pop star status to get some commercials and bit parts in films and then get the hell outta there before it got laughable.

He's actually a good actor. I've seen several of his films and liked him in all of them.

my vaaagggue recollection is that Mark dropped out early, before they were really famous, to do the rap thing, and then later the acting thing. but yeah, Donnie was his brother.

and let's be careful about throwing the word "band" around for a group that played no instruments. hahaha. *has issues*

Oh yeah, and I think they're touring with that cheesy Jonas Brothers group from the Disney channel. I laugh my ass off everytime I look at those guys. Little girls are going nuts over them.

I like the way the Backstreet Boys handle it. They don't tour together all the time, trying to hold onto their glory days; they just go make an album whenever they feel like it and do their own thing otherwise. They're friendly and enjoy what they do, and they appreciate their past; but they're not desperate about it like some aging stars get.

I didn't care for New Kids that much, just like I don't care for N SYNC. A few of their songs are ok, but on the whole, I'll pass. That pretty much sums up my feelings on boy bands in general. *shrugs*
