My co-worker, who is very much pro-gay, having a gay son herself, still balked at this when she first read it. "Why did she get changed and then be pregnant like a woman anyway?" "Because he can. And just because he can get pregnant doesn't mean he feels any less like a man."

That then turned into a discussion about gay transgenders. "If they're gonna go through the trouble to have themselves altered and then just sleep with the opposite sex anyway, what's the point?" Like I told her, it's not about biology, it's about feelings. Just because you're born f.ex. a woman but feel inside like a man, it doesn't necessary mean you feel like a straight man. Seems pretty obvious to me but she just couldn't buy it.

I think it's funny that gender is considered so binary when biological sex is really not. but I think this is exactly the reason people have a harder time with gender issues than those of sexual orientation...we consider gender to be a far more primary identifier of a human being than who they wish to sleep with. what's the first question you ask when you find out someone is pregnant and/or just gave birth? is it a boy, or a girl.

Please. PLEASE. PLEASE let them start some random surgery where men can carry babies. Please let this be the start of that revolution.

I've *heard* that they've been working on artificial uteruses for men but I have no idea if that's true or how far along they are in the development
