Well you must consider yourself lucky compared to what I have to go thru. The sun comes out early in the morning and begins to heat up, by mid day its too bright to see even from within a tinted office window. In the evening when you feel like moving your lazy bone to go for a jog, or play a game of tennis, the sun is still shining with all its resplendent glory. Come out for a stroll after dinner around 9pm in the night and you still feel the heat. Now aren't u lucky u see 4 seasons in a day :)

all that heat. It almost sounds like you're describing home.
To compensate for what one would call a really laaaate spring this year, we have some cruel winters. I'm almost positive that the climate here is basis for the setting in The Left Hand of Darkness.
