So, a couple day ago, I did some sketches with colored pencils (I wanted to draw, and the c pencils were available), i've drawn recentlt with my usual mechanical pencil, but somehow the colored pencil sketches made me feel better about my skill level. What's up with that?

I think colors can add more depth and texture than a mechanical pencil. Try some regular graphite/wood pencils and compare as well!

I'll have to try that, I even have a little set of ones with different hardness. Would be a lot easier to erase than CP.

Probably for the same reason PhotoStudio makes me feel better about my skill: It just makes the picture look nicer.

Makes sense, I think may have hit it. I like the fine lines and consistency of mechanical pencil, and it can be used to do textures, but has pretty much no texture of it's own. And the colors are nice, too.
