Because there has been more Diana Gabaldon-esque fanfiction wank that I am too tired to read through (and honestly, nothing can harsh me while I'm on my Supernatural high), I just have to do this.

I weighed in, though who knows how long that post will be up if Diana Gabaldon's removal of her post and freezing of comments is any indication.

For writer she sure isn't very good at forming analogies, or at getting her point across in a non-offensive way seeing as how she thinks a :-) takes away all insults.

I have no problem with someone not liking fanfiction or no wanting people to write it with their characters but I have a big problem with someone being so insulting towards their fans over it.

I have no idea who the author is in that link, but I am gonna find out so I don't inadvertently give her any of my money.

Good for you. I just...can't bring myself to contribute to this because I get so angry or frustrated or whathaveyou and I don't want to make an incoherent idiot out of myself, lol.

Exactly. I didn't believe she was actually published. Honestly, that's what's tripping me up.

I don't have a problem with people not wanting their fans to write fanfiction, either. Personally, I think it's stupid they would be anything but flattered, but if they're really uncomfortable, then okay. I wouldn't want to offend them (fanfic is a homage, so that would defeat the whole purpose). I just absolutely cannot stand it when they blatantly insult a huge, talented, and vocal part of their fanbase, demonstrate blatant ignorance about what fanfiction actually is, and then get offended that we're offended

Wow. Reading that post originally, I had no idea she was a published author. I assumed this was one of those random people who felt the need to share their bad analogies and sweeping generalizations with the world. Finding out that he/she is published makes me certain not to pick up this person's books.

This whole thing has proven to me just how much I love fandom and fanfic and how much MASSIVE, HEART-BURSTING LOVE I have for our community.

Right? I didn't believe she was actually published. When I looked at her profile, I was rather unpleasantly surprised. At least we know who to avoid!
